Heritage centre and operational railway in the upper Eden Valley, open 10am - 4pm Saturday and Sunday.

Story

A volunteer run not for profit company which is open at weekends. We have a small museum, a wide range of rolling stock and we operate trains on event weekends (see website for details).
Admission is free and charges apply for train rides.

Great day out, even though it was closed, the volunteers still let us onto the platform and showed us around.

This indeed is a five star Heritage Railway. Staffed by hugely dedicated volunteers. Active vintage restorations ongoing of high quality. Friendly welcome, informative. Special events throughout the year. Go there!

The Directors and Volunteers of the SRC at Kirkby Stephen East station are working hard to restore the railway to operations as it was when it closed in the 1960s; the aim is for the restoration to be as authentic as possible. Visitors are welcome each weekend betwenn 10.00am and 4.00pm.
