Remote small church that's well cared for, very old building, stained glass more recent but still beautiful

Beautiful anglo-saxon architecture. A possible the most beautiful piece of stained glass work I have seen.

This Anglo Saxon church is worth a visit for its picturesque setting. Access to the church is along a private road but visitors to the church DO have a right of access. You can park your car outside of the church which has spaces for a few cars. The church has been described by many as the prettiest church in Kent. It is peaceful and tranquil here. Across the water you see the creek at Faversham and may be able to make out the church spire of St. Marys. To the west of the church grounds you may be able to see the remains of a Norman moate and the mound on which once sat a wooden Norman keep. This once patrolled the important transport route of the Swale and the Hart ferry. To the east the old Harty school building has been converted to residential premises. Inside St Thomas’s you will find some lovely stained glass, lovely old beams and of antique interest a medieval chest. Detailed history of the church can be found in booklets which can be purchased are a reasonable price. The church has no electricity and the candle lit church service is packed.
