What a fascinating church from the moment you step into the south porch, which describes the brief history of the church. The eight diamond panes of Tudors glass dating from 1537-47. The wall tablets commemorate 108 victims of enemy action in East Grumstead on 9 July 1943 and 3 victims of a flying bomb which fell on 12 July 1944.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
What a beautiful church. We got such a warm welcome when we arrived, it was lovely. Thank you. We were visiting but would definitely come again. Thank you also for the great coffee and biscuits afterwards. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
Beautiful church with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Quite a mixture of styles and predominately grey inside. Its lofty Nave, Chancel and dark interior give it character and dignity. The rather splendid organ case was unexpected, and the name of the organ builders, Morgan and Smith of Brighton, somewhat surprising. I'm not sure that they're still in business? Anyway,I'm pleased I visited.

I haven't been to St Swithuns church yet. I am quite old, I live hundreds of miles away from it now. When I was a child I lived not far away, and I looked at the square tower from the window. I've always wanted to visit this church, am intrigued by it, have been since childhood! That church is calling to me!

Interesting church with some beautiful stained glass and lovely interiors - I'd love to come back with a guide telling me about the different heraldic shields along the pews. Keep an eye out for the stained glass window to the north side left side as you face the altar which shows the founders of the church I believe which are an interesting demonstration of how representative stained glass work can be in showing real people rather than imagined saints.
Rev Andrew Hawken conducted the service for my Mum's funeral with great care and gave us the scope to make it truly personal to the great appreciation of our family and many local friends present. Thank you Andrew and your team that welcomed us into your beautiful church.

Rev Andrew Hawken conducted our beautiful wedding amidst the COVID chaos with much care and good humour. We cannot thank Rev Hawken and the St Swithun's choir and organist enough for making our day so special!
