The hospital is very big, spacious, and well equipped.nI went for some exams, and was treated very kindly by the nurses and staff. They explained the process with patience. Even though my exams were uncomfortable, they made me feel safe.nThanks to all.
First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the doctors and midwives in the Delivery Suite and Birth Centre. Their professionalism, attentiveness, and medical expertise were exceptional. They looked after my wife with great care and supported her through a smooth and successful caesarean delivery. We are truly grateful for their efforts and compassion.nnUnfortunately, the experience changed drastically once my wife was transferred to the postnatal ward, and we found it traumatic and distressing. The doctors visited only once or twice with brief questions but provided no meaningful postoperative care. No one properly checked or managed my wife’s C-section wound.nnThe night-shift midwives showed a lack of empathy. Our baby was crying constantly, and my wife — still recovering from surgery — was unable to get up to attend to the baby. Despite pressing the buzzer, no one responded for around 45 minutes.nnDue to the distressing first night, we discussed early discharge with doctors and midwives, and were told she could leave later that day or stay longer. We chose to leave. However, from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, my wife and her family who waited in the day room — repeatedly told that discharge was delayed due to waiting for medication. A night midwife even assured us the pharmacy was open 24 hours and asked us to continue waiting. In the end, no medication ever arrived, and we left exhausted by 10:00 PM.nnThe next morning, a day nurse expressed surprise that my wife was still there and arranged for medication. Shortly afterward, a female healthcare staff member in a red uniform approached my wife and pressured her to vacate the bed immediately, stating that other patients needed it. Despite knowing my wife was still physically weak and her family had not yet arrived, she told her to pack her belongings and wait in the day room on her own. This was deeply inappropriate and upsetting.nnWhen we rushed to the hospital to collect my wife, midwives were serving lunch and could not yet remove her cannula. They kindly offered to let her eat first. However, the same red-uniformed staff member returned and harshly demanded we leave within five minutes, showing no understanding of the situation. When I tried to ask for her name, she quickly walked away. Another staff member kindly said someone else would assist with the cannula removal.nnEven a week later, I still feel angry and shocked — particularly at how my wife was treated after major surgery. Are bed spaces more important than basic compassion and dignity? Why was she, in a vulnerable state, pressured to leave and wait alone?nnI know this comment may not change anything , but I believe these concerns must be voiced. No new mother should experience what my wife did, especially not after undergoing surgery and with a newborn in her care.nnFormal complaint would be made, especially the conduct of the red-uniformed, very rude staff member.
I feel the need to leave this review, due to the care & planning it takes to make a procedure go ahead..i was originally booked in for a full hysterectomy admitted to ward approx 7.30am, sat anxiously waitin, had the pleasure meeting the lovely cleaner lady who was just a ray of sunshine clearly loved her job and understood the goings on within the ward as the day went on she asked have you not gone yet, please stay calm, but yep it got to 4pm & was sent home!! Furious full of emotion wanted to complain so much, but after a night of reflection i calmed down, i was givin a new date & all went so well, on the day i was admitted to a private room which was grand as my anxiety wasnt great this time round, i can honestly say as soon as i was settled in, the full experience went so well, from the various nurses i think princess & another nurse cant remember her name eda maybe, indian type lady she discharged me & was fantastic, also the young girl who gave me the enema, plus all the training staff involved all made me feel at ease & big thanks to my Surgeon & his team were so meticulous i cannot thank them enough, i spent 2days here and felt so looked after & left there feeling 100% satisfied with a clear insight into what team work/planning it takes to make this happen *** so will be more open minded for any future occurrences, credit to st marys staff from top to bottom much love Elaine xx
Before going to Saint Mary’s Hospital, I had heard many negative comments and was genuinely scared about how I would be treated. However, after spending five days there, I’m truly thankful for the medical team. I ended up deciding on a C-section at the last moment. I had to fast for 16 hours due to other emergency cases being prioritized before me, which was tough. But when it was finally my turn, the operating theatre team was incredibly friendly, supportive, and guided me through everything with care.nnAfter the surgery, I was moved to the ward, where the midwives were also kind and helpful. Due to their heavy workload, they couldn't always assist immediately, but they consistently responded when needed. Every night, a midwife would check in to ask about my meal preferences for the next day. They made sure I received my medication on time and contacted doctors whenever necessary. Overall, my experience at Saint Mary’s Hospital was very positive, and I would rate it 4 out of 5.
Terrible triage system. Waited 3 hours for doctor to tell me my blood results were fine. Another time, I had to wait 7 hours no food or drinks were offered. Really uncomfy chairs for pregnant ladies. Also, felt rushed when finally got to see a Dr as their pager kept beeping and was told they would need to go to theatre.nThey should only have senior doctors running triage, as you end up waiting another couple of hours of you wanted to speak to somebody senior. Unfortunately, I have a lot of complications with my pregnancy so have become a regular visitor. They also don't give you any ideas on waiting times so you're sat there waiting and waiting...
