The Parish Church is mainly C12 to early C15. It has a massive low rise tower stretching the full width of the nave. The village green is very pretty and the church looks down on the village and the green itself. It is a very pleasing church to visit.
Over a thousand years old, a pre Norman conquest church. It has an unusual Germanic style roof which is being renovated as we speak. I got married here a couple of years ago. What I like is that it’s a bit worn around the edges and hasn’t been prettified. The father of the Bronte sisters was the once the vicar here.
I cannot rate the church here for what it is now as I don't know it but I can give you a little bit of history. I understand Richard Rogers was Lecturer here from 1577 to 1618. There is a superb commentary by Rogers on the Book of Judges which was reprinted in 1983 by the Banner of Truth. It is a reprint of the 1615 edition with old style font and spelling but is easy to read when you get going.
My local church - a beautiful and peaceful place.
