Beautiful lake with plenty of swans and other birds. Very easy access and just right in the city. Parking is abundant. Great for a relaxing stroll.
SO MANY SWANS AND OTHER BIRDS! It is definitely a fun place to visit. The scenary around the Loch is amazing. There are trails around the Loch too if you like walking.
The swans, mallards, sees gulls and the great crested grebes were a delight to watch. I had some calm moments as I walked the perimeter of this lake.
Located at the feet of Arthur's Seat, just below St Anthony's Chapel Ruins. Avery beautiful loch full of swans, seagulls and geese
Small loch situated in Holyrood Park at the base of Arthur’s Seat. There is an abundance of birds and I have never seen such a large group of swans. Nice circular walk that takes about 15 minutes with views of the ruined chapel.
Small loch or large pond you choose. The swans here not only beautiful are also amusing to watch as they protest against the passing cars by pausing to have wee sit or clean in the middle of the road. almost as if they know that no one will dare to hurt them, protected and capable of breaking your arm, so they say.
An easily accessible location with great views up to St Anthony’s Chapel. Swans, ducks, pigeons and more. Below is a wee verse inspired by true events at the site... Double Murder Mystery The front page news was quite a shock: "Severed Head Found In St Margaret's Loch, Another uncovered on nearby land". Cut by the scythe of fate's wielding hand. The first was large, that of a male, The other petite, a small female. Only the heads have been recovered, Gruesome body parts lie undiscovered. Who were the victims? We can only guess, No details given by the local press. Maybe a couple, on an evening's romance, Who met their end by unfortunate chance. Perhaps they were tourists, folk who travel, A mystery to explore, unwind, and unravel. Nightshift workers, walking home wrecked, The search is on, clues to detect. A double beheading, a homicide, Or just freak coincidence two people died? A brutal end, to be decapitated, Heads hacked from bodies, emancipated. Many theories were whispered 'round town, Perhaps it had been an insane killer clown. A maniac, escaped from an institute, Or a loner, hopes lost, destitute. The morbid scenarios spread and continued; A vicious warning, a gangland feud. Or a couple knocked off by a corporation, Because they knew too much information. They posed a threat to the powers that be, Covert assassination by the Ministry. Caught on the run, hunted fugitives, No safe haven in which to live. A lover's tiff that took a turn for the worse, Or muggers demanding wallet and purse. Were the bodies stolen, for experimentation, Burke and Hare resurrected, to stalk a nation? The only witnesses, the resident swans, But by now the blood stains on white were gone. The police lacked verified evidence, Of who sent these people into past tense. Forensic scientists allayed many fears, These heads had lain cleaved for 200 years. The public no longer need be aware, The park did not shroud a crazed killer's lair. This murder mystery remains unsolved, A cold case, identities not yet resolved. The investigation is no longer dynamic, It turned out the heads were made of ceramic.
