My daughter has been going to this riding school for over 4 years. She started at the age of 10 years old. She attends a special school and has Sen needs. They have been absolutely fantastic with her and she has improved so much. She loves riding here every week. They are always very inclusive and very friendly. They have recommend adaptive reins which have helped a great deal. We wouldn’t go anywhere else. Lots of fun activities over the holidays too. Highly recommend!!! Great friendly staff, super safe ponies very inclusive of needs. Keep up the great work.
Had the most amazing experience at the riding school today. My instructor was absolutely amazing apologies for not remembering your name, but my memory is awful. He was very patient with me and after a bad experience at a rider school a week before made me feel really confident on the horse. Would highly recommend this riding school to anybody from children to, someone who is fairly new to horse riding they were super patient and made me feel very welcome. Did some walking to get used to how the reins work and my legs on the horse. Then did some rising trot Which is what I struggled with last week. However, this week I fell amazing and I really understood what I needed to do to improve. His instructions were really clear on how I could make small improvements over the course the lesson. I really felt like I made some progress. The instructor also showed me how to brush the horse, clean his hoofs and to prepare the tack and put it on the horse. 10/10
Every time I’ve visited this stables I’ve been met with polite, warm and helpful staff. Everyone has a smile on their face including the horses I would recommend this livery and riding school to anyone who’s looking to experience a professional and welcoming environment without the worry of being judged from beginner up to advanced! Special mention to co-owner Tara! What a star.
My daughter had her first ever riding lesson here over 2 years ago and has never looked back! The lessons are really varied and the staff go all out to put on extra experiences throughout the year, like the gymkhanas, minimus jumping, own a pony days, hacks out and lots more. She looks forward to her lessons and has come so far with the support of the instructors. It’s got a lovely sociable feel there. She’s made great friends, adores all the ponies and the fab onsite cafe is an added bonus for watching parents!
Had the BEST time on a private lesson and hack with Tara yesterday. Booked as a surprise by my cousin spending the afternoon at St Leonard’s was exactly what I needed. We had a chance to understand the basics and then went out on an amazing hack route! We were looked after, safe and supported the whole time, highly recommend and will be back
We have tried a few riding schools in the area and some of the lessons at St Leonard's are truly awful. Katie has little respect for the children she coaches and managed to reduce my 11 year old daughter to tears telling her she is not good enough to ride when she is in beginners! She comes to be taught, not to be told off. My daughter had lessons with other coaches there and at other stables, and she does fine with them. She was so excited to come today as she had had some good lessons but after the awful words Katie had with my daughter, calling her mardy and asking her what she was doing there, we have to call it a day and move elsewhere.
Lovely instructors who have been very patient and positive with me as I get back into riding after nearly 30 years. I’ve ridden one horse and one pony who were beautiful, great fun and very tolerant! I’m excited to continue learning and improving at St.Leonards
Fabulous Friendly Riding School! We’ve been at St Leonard’s for 2.5 years and we truly feel apart of the family <3 Alex is an incredible riding instructor, my 7 year old son has such a wonderful relationship with him. Alex really explains things clearly and checks he understands what is being asked of him. Howard had gone from just being off lead rein to being in their intermediate classes. This achievement is truly down to Alex, he has brought my son out of himself and his confidence has gone from strength to strength in the saddle. All the staff are truly friendly and are extremely approachable, nothing is too much trouble. They hold a wealth of knowledge and are happy to share to help you understand if you are unsure of anything. Tara is really approachable and will happily assist with any enquiries you have big or small. Katie is another teacher at the school and she is fantastic, brilliant delivery of well organised lessons, to ensure that during group lessons all participants are kept busy and moving around the school. Sally, Pam, Martin and all the yard staff including the dogs are extremely friendly. There is a wonderful little cafe on site, run by a lovely family, after the lessons the children pop and have a little treat and are always greeted with big smiles from Bernadette. St Leonard’s is by far the best riding school around! Keep up the good work to All The Team At St Leonard’s :-
I came here to add to add to my work experience for when I apply for university to become a veterinary surgeon. This place is run by a woman who seems to enjoy shouting at people when next to animals rather than showing them how to do so safely. I saw children having lessons. They were not taught or shown how to be safe on the horse is a must with reasons why. A simple kind of health and safety would have gone a long way for the children and the horses. The same children were also shouted at. I witnessed some of the younger female staff mocking the children in a volume they were heard. Some of the same younger females took over telling the children what to do o. Their lessons. Not once were volunteers working for free thanked at all. The staff who were getting paid were happy to do nothing. I had to leave early on my 2nd day due to a very bad back injury. I felt guilty at first, but after the short reaction I received, I was glad I left. This place appears to be run by people who only seem to care about money. If you or your children would like to have lessons. I strongly advise that you do NOT go here. If you would like to learn how to ride a horse, you shouldn't be stressed at all. Animals 100% know if you are tense. I remember when I was a little girl, having riding lessons, it was a joy. THIS PLACE IS A BIG NO NO!
Me and my mum watched an instructor punch a horse in the neck. Unprofessional, shouty and rude. They run their horses into the ground. No one should ride here
