There is an orientation board explaining the spring and its history!! There are decorated trees, simple pathways and a couple of benches where you could enjoy the surrounds and watch the birds and wildlife..
St Kenelm's Spring Source of the River Stour The spring immediately below St Kenelm's Church on the slopes of the Clent Hills. The River Stour flows for 25 miles though the southern edge of the Black Country via Halesowen, Cradley, Lye, Stourbridge and Kidderminster to meet the River Severn at Stourport on Severn. The river important in the beginning of the Industrial Revolution as it provided power for forges and mills. It is said that in the 17th century this was the most hard worked river in the country. A very tranquil and peaceful location with long history and great legend worth investigating.
The church is a nice building, the grounds are well kept and looked after, then finding the spring was a nice surprise and very interesting to see where the River Stour begins it's journey from the ground.
Christianity chased all the native god's and spirits into hiding or forced them into disguises but they haven't gone. Re: St. Kenelm's spring
