Spoke to Russel about renting storage. Reading other reviews I thought people MIGHT be over reacting...but turns out that there not. The guy is really unhelpful and impossible to work with. I have now found another storage facility who I was saying about Russel to and they mentioned that they had heard it all before about this guy. HOW DO YOU RUN A BUSINESS BEING SO RUDE! Without customers he won't have a business and customers to be rude to. Take my advice don't even try approaching the guy regarding storage!
I found found the experience of using St John's Self storage very pleasurable and good value. I have never used this type of facility before and inbetween houses used their containers which were clean dry and safe. Thanks Russ your help was 10 out of 10.
Use them to store my allotment things while I get ready to move. Great service professional and very secure. Would certainly recommend them.
Very nice and clean storage. No deposit. 24hours access and cctv. Code access to storage area with unique identifier and personal code. 5 mph speed limit so safe for kids and others.
Stored contents of house after moving to a narrow boat, after 3 years managed to clear items no longer needed and found another unit nearer to where I live now, super safe storage with CCTV as well as being right by police headquarters so very safe and secure electric gate access only downside was the many speed bumps it does seem a bit over the top but when speaking to owner you find out people speed round the site the reason for so many humps, such a shame there's so many people with no common sense on have to drive.
The most obnoxious people I have ever had to deal with. No stars really.
At the beginning, when I spoke with Russell I was extremely pleased with the service he offered,I was able to store household items and have room for my motorbike in the container as well. Russell spoke about his bikes with me and gave an excellent impression of himself. As I wanted to use my bike on occasion there seemed no problem with my doing so,I parked my car where instructed and returned my bike at the end of my ride. The first time I began to wonder about Russell was when my wife dropped me off and parked outside the gates to make sure everything was ok with the bike.A friend of mine arrived to meet me, again,outside the gates, he saw my wife and pulled his bike alongside her car for a quick Hello,I exited the gates and saw Russell striding across his frontage where he confronted my wife and my friend telling them in no uncertain terms that they were not allowed to stop there and chat and all sorts of rubbish about causing an accident !! We duly departed and on my return later that day I pulled onto the front of the furniture place next door and lit a cigarette as I sometimes do when returning from a ride. Five minutes hadn't elapsed before Russell came storming across and told me I was not allowed to smoke there,I explained that I didn't know it was on his property and he pointed to signs saying No Smoking,I thought it applied to inside his storage area, he said it was all his and told me to put out my cigarette, this was not a friendly conversation and he was quite threatening ! Anyhow I put out the cigarette and took my bike in the gates and put it away. On yet another occasion,I had to take my bike out and was unable to return it that evening for personal reasons.At 10.30pm the same night I received a text from Russell saying it was not allowed to leave my car there overnight,I explained the reason why I hadn't returned and apologised, not knowing I wasn't allowed !The next morning I received yet another text saying no one had parked there overnight for the past 50 years !!! As far as I can ascertain, he hasn't had the storage business for 50 years !! He went on to threaten to charge me £60 for overnight parking and ranted on saying he'd only had 3 hours sleep worrying and had searched the compound to make sure I wasn't still stuck in there or laying injured somewhere ! WHAT !!!!! He couldn't possibly have believed I was in the compound as I had passed through the gate with my numbers put into the keypad, what did he think I'd done, climbed over his gates to have a walk around ?? As a few others have stated on reviews, this man is a control freak I really believe he sits at his house which is the one next to the compound watching everything people do ! Its more like a concentration camp than a storage facility ! He makes up the rules as he goes along and is a very overpowering person indeed . I believe he may have a personality problem, he has even had a go at a friend of mine who stores at the facility for speeding over the speed ramps !! WHAT !! How the hell can anyone speed over the amount of ramps he has installed ?? There would be nothing left of ones belongings if they sped in that place !! It is a very clean place and excellent storage is available but God help you if you put a foot wrong, no friendly conversation no polite advice, just confrontation and threats !! No more business from me Russell,not even if it was bloody free, you are a vile man and need help !!
Overall professional attitude. The price I was quoted was excellent and the quality of the container was very high. It was cleaned to a professional level upon rental and provided me a large quantity of space for the storage of my equipment and home items. Full CCTV site and secure gates with your own code along with a safe site. as long as you stick to the 5mph site speed limit you will be left alone! it's not that hard to stick to this rule I have met the owners more then a couple of times, give them respect you get treated the same way. Simple professional and secure what more could you want. :
Do not use this storage unit, very very rude and makes up his own rules, telling me I was speeding through the speed bumps when clearly you can not speed over them things, also said what if kids was playing I would of ran them over, well clearly mate it states in your policy that kids are NOT ALLOWED in the unit, lift wasn’t working when we arranged to clear our unit out and did not let us know after we have hired vans to take our goods, also said we don’t pay for the lift so it wasn’t his problem. terrible man, must live a lovely life always having the hump. STAY AWAY DO NOT USE!!!!!! Use hilltop self storage, 10x better
Very friendly and professional. At first concerned that the containers could be damp in winter or roasting in summer, but this has NOT been the case. Our goods are in perfect condition after a year in storage. There is 24/7 access via a coded gate which we find extremely convenient. And very reasonably priced. Would recommend without hesitation.
