Mission

At the heart of our work is a set of beliefs - a set of values that we, like other NHS organisations up and down the country, all believe in. Our values drive us to keep on improving the service we provide to our patients as well as their family and friends. It also guides the way in which we work together as staff and volunteers, and how we treat each other.

Our values support our mission: ‘to put the patient first by delivering great care to every patient, every day.’ They also support our five year strategy (2015 - 2020) which you can read about at www.epsom-sthelier.nhs.uk/5yearstrategy.

We offer an extensive range of services, including cancer, pathology, surgery, and gynaecology to over 490,000 people in south west London and north east Surrey. My grandson had a short spell in Queen Mary's Children's hospital. The care he received was excellent. I would like to say a huge Thank You to all the kind staff who cared for him. The level of care and attention he received was outstanding. I would also like to mention the Children's A & E Department who were also outstanding at assessing him quickly and starting the necessary treatment straight away. Overall the care and treatment we received from the time the paramedic arriving to his discharge was outstanding. Thank you all so much

Hi, I was born here on 5th August 1955. Still alive, doing well and feeling fine. Obviously they seem to have done a good job.

When I was in labour with my first child my boyfriend called in and they told us to come to the birthing centre. So we did when we got there they told us no one had phoned in I was standing up having contractions and my dad went and told me to go and sit down. When we got into the birthing centre we were greeted by a DR who said she's just dealing with another woman in labour and she will be with us. The birthing pool was absolutely disgusting my dad did say to the DR "is someone going to clean this" which she replied "it's already been cleaned" she also had a nasty cough/cold and went to examine me without washing her hands...again my dad intervened and said "are you not going to wash your hands". She examined me which was extremely painful and she replied "I can't examine you if your moving around so much anyway your only 2cm you need to go home" she asked if I wanted some pain relief so I said yes. We had to wait over an hour for her to get the tablets...which my body ended up rejecting and I threw them up whole....then the DR asked me if I would like another batch (well no my body just rejected them). We went home and I ended up having my baby in the bath, my dad delivered him (it was a boy😊). I later went to find out that DR's are not allowed on the labour/maternity wards. I do wonder if that woman was a real professional. To have a cold and work around newly born babies is a huge no no in my books. I had to return to the hospital to deliver the placenta where I was greeted by a lovely African nurse, she was absolutely amazing I had to have stitches and she was just fantastic. I guess it really does depend on the draw of your cards on the day you go. Although I must admit the hygiene at this hospital is pretty damn disgraceful.

Had my son here. Had a very easy pregnancy and was constantly checked on throughout labour. Had to have a ventuse as my son was big. Have since been back for CT scans and xrays for other problems and have been in and out in 10 minutes with appointments. Waiting for blood tests is very lengthy though.
