This hostel was great what I needed for the night. It was clean could smell the cleaning products still and the reception and check in was easy and welcoming. Rooms were a good size but no curtains which I would prefer. Also due to the bar outside, it was very loud for most of the night as the windows didn’t shut very well. Otherwise I was happy with my stay.
While booking the room size is advertised as 12m. They gave us a room really small, this is at most 8m2. We stayed in the same hotel recently in 2 different rooms. They were much bigger place. We explained this to the reception and explained the room they gave us is not the room we booked, as this is too small. They refuse to do anything and reject us to basically deal with it. They are lying with the specifications of the room, and they said there is nothing they can do. I felt scammed. Rooms: Small and unpleasant.
I recently stayed at this budget-friendly hotel and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent facilities. Despite being affordable, the hotel offered everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Overall, it's a great option if you're looking for good value without compromising on quality.
I stayed for two nights in the capsule room to attend the British Summertime Festival. I arrived at around 1:30, to an empty reception knowing full well that check in was from 3, and I was more than happy to wait, I checked back with reception at 2:15 to which i was told no beds were ready.. which that means they had 45 minutes to do all 20 of the beds? I then was met with a 30 minute line to check in which seemed so unnecessary, I work in a hotel and it if we are able to check people in early, it helps out everyone! The bed & room itself was peaceful and comfortable, I very much appreciated the slow closing doors which is such a rarity in hostels. Housekeeping came barreling through the room at 10:30 with all their equipment, and cornered off the showers & toilets to clean, which makes no sense when that's the time everyone wanted to use them! I would stay again as it was comfortable and convenient but the check-in process needs a look in, as getting people in as soon as beds are ready, makes sense for everyone.
Never usually leave reviews, however as a young solo female traveller I did not feel safe here. I am currently awake 5am as a man in maybe his 40’s/50’s has been up since 3:30 sitting in his bed staring at the walls, getting up 10 minutes later and praying? I’m unsure what he’s doing - going from bed to the floor space. It makes you wonder if they care for the guests safety or considerations of comfort as it seems they let any weirdo in and they wander around at all times of the night. No curtains on the beds. Two toilet/showers between however many rooms. No social events for solo travellers like other St Christopher’s have had or a common area for people ONLY staying in the hostel. A live band downstairs in the pub which is nice but again, open to the public, so not mindful of people travelling on their own looking to make friends. The only good thing about this place is the location.
Booked a 5 day stay at this capsule hostel. First things first. This is a capsule hostel, this is meant for those looking to travel light and explore the city and just need a roof over their head at night. Which is exactly what this place accomplishes. Do not have lofty expectations. I’m 5,8 and was comfortably able to fit in the capsule. Mattress was decent to sleep on. Only issue with sleeping is the place is situated on top of a bar. So be prepared for the following -loud music -bed vibrating -people arriving late at night I am a heavy sleeper and was able to sleep 3 nights of the 5 pretty well. Had to take a melatonin to sleep properly on the last day. You are sharing 2 bathrooms and 3 showers with 20+ people. I was unable to use the bathrooms for 4 of my days as they were occupied for quite some times in the morning and night. Showers were generally empty and free and to use at all times. There are washrooms downstairs and cafes across the street if washroom is needed. Would like to state again that you are sharing a room with 20+ people, do not expect everyone to be the same as you, you may see some uncouth behaviour from others, so if you’re someone who can’t deal with other cultures/mentality or bad BO, you may have to look elsewhere. Lockers are provided for use you need to bring your own lock or pay to borrow from hostel. I interacted with service/front desk almost daily, very nice staff and helped me with questions and queries I had. Location was also fantastic, during my 5 day stay I never took a bus or cab to any location. I was able to walk to all my destinations in 1-2 hrs. If you do need to bus or train. Stations are right next to the hostel. There’s a tesco supermarket and ATM right next to the hostel if required. In reality, this is a 1 star hostel, but based on value and location, it gets 4 stars. My only issue was not being able to use the washroom for 4 days and a bit of rough sleep.
Absolutely disgusting hostel. Even for the price and location, I would not stay there again. Heard multiple people complain about bed bugs, rooms were dirty, showers smelled of mould and were dirty, beds were not made and to top it off: we found cockroaches in the hall. The rooms were disgusting and small. It’s possible more cockroaches were crawling in our room, however, since they were so cramped it was impossible to even see the floor. The rooms were hot and smelled of sweat. The showers were dirty, I felt more disgusting coming out of them than going in. Moreover, one of the rooms in our hall did not close due to some kind of water leak causing the floor to swell up, and they still let people sleep in there! Absolutely ridiculous, even more so considering the weird people wandering around this hostel. As a woman, I did not feel safe at all. Multiple weird old men were wandering around during the night, and we same some people enter the building from the street without the passcode by following some of the hostel guests. This felt super unsafe, as the street this hostel is located on is full of junkies and other weird figures. I would definitely not recommend. We ended up booking a hotel instead, afraid of bringing home bed bugs and not being able to sleep after seeing cockroaches multiple times.
Staying at the Christopher Hostel was an absolute delight! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. The rooms were clean and cozy, providing a perfect haven after a day of exploring the city. The hostel's central location made it easy to access all the attractions, and the communal spaces offered great opportunities to me. I especially appreciated the thoughtful amenities and the affordable rates. Overall, I highly recommend the Christopher Hostel for anyone.
The location is good but that’s all that is good. I don’t know how I managed to book this dump. Firstly, everything is super dirty, there is mold on the walls and there are cockroaches in the hallway. As the cherry on top some people noticed bed bugs. Secondly, guests in this hostel are also super sketchy, some hobos from the street even wander the hallways. Stay clear of this place, there are waaaay better options. The result: I left earlier and booked a hotel. P.S. Some female guest also felt really uncomfortable in the hostel even in the female only part because it is not super well separated.
Nice place to spend an after dinner chill time out with nice cocktails and very good atmosphere!! Friendly staff and the live music is something else, on another level, the singer is really talented! Such a nice surprise this place! Definitely coming back!Service: 5/5
