ATU St Angelas is a provider of University-level education and research in the North West of Ireland. We are a dynamic, fast-growing educational institution that recognises our strategic location in Sligo and the North West. We are fully responsive to the local/regional needs and aware of our contribution not only to University-level education but to the social and economic development of the region. The campus is founded on over 400 years of education tradition. This is a tradition which values both Christian ideals and academic excellence with a strong community environment recognised for its friendly, caring, atmosphere characterised by respect for the individual. ATU St Angelas has a well-deserved reputation for delivering high quality programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels across the Academic Schools of Nursing, Health Sciences and Disability Studies; Home Economics; and Education. ATU St Angelas also offers a range of online, flexible and professional development programmes. Although established as a College of Education for Home Economics Teachers, the ATU St Angelas has expanded far beyond its original remit and currently its profile of academic programmes of study also includes: Nursing and Health Studies, Healthcare Management, Education, Special Education, Religious Education, Irish, Nutrition, Food and Business Management, Science and Disability Studies. The provision of such a range of academic offerings at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels coupled with its unique geographical position as the sole provider of University education in the North West has lead to a dramatic increase in student numbers regionally and nationally with an ever increasing interest internationally. It is predicted that there will be a significant growth in student numbers over the next few years. In March 2021, the School of Home Economics was delighted to officially launch the National Centre of Excellence for Home Economics by Minister Frank Feighan, Minister of State with responsibility for Public Health, Well Being and National Drugs Strategy. This new Centre recognises distinguished expertise in a unique domain of academic specialisation on the island of Ireland and will be a vehicle through which the teaching and research strengths of Home Economics will continue to be progressively developed and branded. On 23rd November 2021, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris TD, gave approval in principle for the incorporation of St. Angela’s College into the Institute of Technology Sligo, and subsequently to become one of nine campuses of the new Atlantic Technological University across the West and North West. Atlantic TU was officially launched on 1st April 2022 and now both Sligo institutions continue to work together to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible and that no one will be at a disadvantage, most of all our students. Once St. Angela’s College incorporates with Atlantic TU, all students will have access to the many excellent facilities and services on both Sligo campuses. Our College Management Team and staff are actively collaborating and streamlining current support services to ensure that the student experience will be greatly enhanced because of this incorporation. Changes to our accreditation from University of Galway to Atlantic Technological University will only apply to students who join us from September 2022 which means that new students will register as Atlantic TU students for the duration of their studies, again having access to the facilities and services available at both Sligo campuses.
Beautiful location for a college campus although it is a bit difficult to get too. Nearest amenities are a 15 minutes drive away.
Wonderful excellent lecturers eith adequate guidance in achieving excellence in chosen field and goals. Also had great integration programme for international students. They go out of their way to ensured all new students are well settled in and easily adapt to the culture. Very supportive and helpful in coirse outline achieving the best possible. Instrumental in making me stay behind in ireland to work. And Imelda Brady Lecturer was a great source of inspiration in my achievements so far in ireland. I won't hesitate to encourage anyone in attending.
Only visiting If my school had windows with this view, I would have slept in the carpark just too see it every morning spectacular
I can't wait to attend this college in September
Very isolated. Nothing to do there.
