You might suspect that a restaurant in a location like this would be excessively priced and not great - but you'd be wrong. Lunch was definitely much better than brunch, but both were worth the price. Steak sandwich was fantastic. The restaurant has lovely decor, good menu, great staff. Great view of the links as well.
Initially shown to our table by what i can only describe as a curt italian member of staff. However all other members of young staff who took our drinks order and meal order were very helpful and polite. We ordered the fish and chips which was fabulous, my only other issue was the plate/tray it was served on, it was not steady and every time I cut into my fish the plate spun round, not ideal! Our drinks and our desserts were also lovely. We had a lovely time despite a couple of small issues, so thankyou
Good food, great views! Stop by after a round in the links and grab a drink or some food. The burger was delicious and I throughly enjoyed it. One of the better burgers in St Andrews. There is a Pro Shop on the same floor and then downstairs is a full service locker room for women and men. Showers, lockers, bathrooms, everything you need provided.
I don't like to leave a negative review, but I hope the feedback is usedul. Overall our service was friendly and the atmosphere was very nice. Most dishes on our table were tasty, however the Cullen Skink was a particular let down. The soup was too thin and lacked seasoning, unfortunately the potatoes were also undercooked and the dish lacked a decent quantity of fish. 19/10/22.
Our 4 ball arrived at 11.35 and were ignored initially. Despite being less than a quarter full we could not take a table until the aloof waiter checked for reservations. The place was still largely empty when we left 30 mins later. When the senior waitress did finally come to take our order we were told icily that the breakfast menu finished at 11.30. Our requests for bacon rolls fell on deaf ears. After our round we returned at 5 pm to be told we could not even have a bowl of chips as the kitchen closed at 5. What a miserable service for hungry golfers. Time to decide what the restaurant is for...scottish golfers or passing tourists looking for an overpriced lunch. We will not be back.
Went to lunch with my client there. Disanility access good. Only 2 disabled parking places available. Very busy. Our table looked out over the course. Table next to us had 5 adults and a noisy baby. Conversation was difficult due to the general noise. Very clean modern resteraunt. Comfortable seating. Temp on the cool side although if was very cold outside. Food took 30mins to arrive. We ordered the special which was roast beef yorkshire pudding with veg and roast potatoes. The plate was huge.Massive roast potatoes done perfectly. The yorkshire pudding was one of those giant ones you buy in the supermarket. It had diced veg in it. They were undercooked becsuse the carrots were very crunchy. I got 2 slices of very underdone roast beef which was cold. They had not heated the plate. I think it must have stood on the pass for a while. I ate it anyway as I was hungry. No mustard or horseradish sauce offered. There was a ladle of gravy which was also cold. Serving staff very nice. Very smart. Meal for 3 incl drimks £77
Very nice place to eat and get you ready for your round of golf, couple of the group thought it was a bit on the steep side prize wise, but it St. Andrews so you pay for what you get.Food: 5/5
Had lunch at Swilcan Lounge after a guided tour of The Old Course. Great view of the Old and the Himalayas courses. Our party ordered the Lobster mac and cheese, seafood pie, pan seared halibut and lamb rump. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The only thing that could have improved was the service in the lounge - it was ok but wasn't as friendly or as efficient as at other establishments we've visited in Scotland. Still worth a visit if in the area.
Great food that is authentic for the area. We tried Haggis for the first time and loved it, including the vegetarian version.
Location is stunning and service generally good. Been many times without cause for complaint. However there are occasions that the quality of food falls short. Breakfast porridge is on the menu therefore you would think that this Scottish staple would be made to a good consistent standard. How wrong could one be. It's awful, more like a thin milky rice pudding . Breakfast roll was stale. Clearly known by kitchen staff who had sent it out having heated it up to disguise its lack of freshness. It was mid morning and the manager claimed their delivery had not arrived. Ordered alternative but no apology was received. Desperately disappointing start to the day
