What a fantastic place to visit. Even if, like me, you're not interested in golf you can appreciate the history and people watch. Accommodation is expensive but deals do come up on the various booking sites which I've found cheaper than booking direct. Public transport is excellent so travelling by train to Leuchars is preferable in my opinion. There's a bus every 15 minutes to St Andrews.
A beautiful, classy place, clean, attractive to Tourists, those who are interested in Golf, also, the Royal connection of Kate and William.nThere is a little cafe where they used to meet. An inexpensive, basic little cafe, but it is really nice.nA visit to the University they went to is a must. Absolutely beautiful in stunning grounds.nRuined castle to visit, overlooking the Sea. It is £10 to get into the castle, and the staff all dress in Highland Dress. One man had long, wavy hair, and his long beard was tied up with a silver Celtic ring. Looking immaculate in their Kilts. Very helpful too.nAquarium with Sea Horses and an Octupos.nLots of lovely little cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating, beautiful flower displays.nEverything is clean and spotless.
Lovely place! Beautiful sites to see and things to do besides golfing too
St Andrews has everything!!!nGolf...of course! Beaches.West Sands and East Sands.. with cafes and water sports....a swimming pool... indoor and outdoorn..A working harbour with marina and cafe!nPerfect for everyone!
Visiting St Andrews touched me deeper than I could have imagined. It’s not just a town with centuries of history — it’s a place where time seems to stand still. The ruins of the cathedral rise above the coastline, and the breath of wind between the stone towers whispers stories of centuries past. Here, the silence is full of meaning — you can almost hear the footsteps of monks, the bells that have long stopped ringing, and the voice of your own soul that is so easy to lose in the rush of everyday life.nSt Andrews is a blend of sea breeze, narrow streets, cosy cafés, and majestic landmarks that remind you that history is not just dates and events, but above all the emotions and feelings it leaves in your heart.nnI highly recommend that anyone visiting Scotland makes time for this town. It’s a place where you can easily find harmony with yourself and the beauty of the world around you.
