Currently the weather outside is -5, a large amount of schools around Hertfordshire are shut down, due to safety reasons and continuous snowfall forecast throughout the day. Students at STAGS are unfortunately being told to remove layers (thermal jumpers), scarves and coats due to not conforming with the schools uniform policies. Plus, other schools, who are open, have informed students saying that they are allowed to attend to school in warm appropriate clothing - not uniform. Additionally, the heating in majority of the classrooms is broken , yet students have been getting consequences for wearing either an under layer or a scarf because of the extreme weather conditions. Furthermore, students have been late to school due to the high traffic conditions, yet they have been given late detentions and teachers haven't shown care or understanding. Overall, this shows that this school cares more about the image of their students rather than their mental health + well being.

I found out I got this school a few days ago and I was ecstatic! This is an amazing school and has great GCSE results so I fully recommend sending your daughter / Choosing this school. A lot of people say they just want to look good in front of ofsted but they just want you to succeed.

Disgusted... students at St Albans girls school are being made to attend school during a -5degree snowstorm. Most students have decided to come to school wearing jumpers, hoodies, coats, scarfs, fluffy socks, gloves etc, unfortunately all these students have been asked to remove any excess clothing that doesn’t apply with the school uniform despite the weather conditions or a serious consequence will be handed out. I can see why teachers may do this any other time but considering the colour of these items are either black or navy confuses me as it is only helping the students learning as they are focusing on the work rather than how cold it is. school may argue that the premises of the school is safe and warm for students however nearly every heater in the school is broken which is concerning as stags has been labelled a world class school and pathways in and around school are rarely gritted and when they are it looks like a 4 year old could do a better job. Furthermore at break and lunch students are still not being provided a warm place to be as unless you have purchased something from the canteen or should I say ‘restaurant’ (that they decided to build instead of fixing the broken heaters) leaves them with these options to sit either A. In the Canopies( which isn’t any warmer then the rest of the school due to being partly outside) B. The field( which you could probably tell is outside) or C. The quad( which is an outside seating area.) As you can notice the ‘wide’ range of areas to sit aren’t based indoors which is terrible with the weather conditions at the moment. Even worse students who arrive more than 1 minuete late are being forced to come to a late detention at break time with no question, like the uniform even though most school in Hertfordshire are shut or allowed to wear non uniform for the students well being and comfort, whether their fault or not which isn’t fair considering the slippery icy roads. Many teacher could argue in saying that the roads are being gritted for the publics safety however they are forgetting about the small local roads that aren’t being gritted but are still part of some students journey to school which are extremely dangerous to walk or drive on. Recently the staff of stags and mainly the head of KS3 are taking attendance very seriously and are getting angry if the reason for staying off school isn’t serious. With the conditions the schools in at the moment I don’t blame students for not wanted to come in and missing days as it’s not the ‘warm and welcoming’ place they claim to be. The fact that stags has been classed a world class school is worrying as as soon as you spend 1 day there you wouldn’t want to come back. Stags has always felt that the girls in our school should speak load and proud of our opinions and we should never let anyone silence us as we are powerful women, however the only people silencing us are the school who aren’t letting us share our opinion and are punishing us when we do make a stand and fight for our rights, which we have always been taught to do. The schools situations at the moment makes me more upset than angry as it always used to deserve their ofsted title ‘outstanding’ but recently it has really dropped their standards and has appalled me with the way they are handing the weather conditions. Students deserve there human right and well being sort your school out not impressed.

DONT COME HERE !!! The school that let’s bullying happen , the headteacher Mrs chapman doesn’t care about the bullying and only cares about herself looking good ! This school can ruin your child’s life so I would avoid at all costs! I KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN BULLIED AT THIS SCHOOL. This is a school for meal girls and not to learn.
