disliked as...currently, (as at 8th November 2015), information is displayed stating that SS. Austin & Gregory Parish, Margate, has TWO Safeguarding Representatives, for the protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Having asked Fr. Fingan, the parish priest, via email, twice, the first time back in September, for the name and contact details of our Rep, before finding where the posters are displayed, no response has, to date, been received. The Southwark Diocesan Safeguarding Co-Ordinator advised me, when I requested this information from her, that our Parish actually has NO Safeguarding representative in place. Having spoken to the two ladies whose names and numbers are still listed on the information displayed, it transpires one resigned when she left our Parish over a year ago. The other resigned when she left our Parish at least 2 months ago. So WHY would false information be left for all to see, and people needing the help of a Safeguarding Representative, have none to turn to? The Diocesan Safeguarding Co-Ordinator advised me that the Representative for St. Anne's Cliftonville is covering Margate. Yet upon speaking to him, he knew nothing of any resignations at Margate, had no idea he was supposed to be covering, and does not know the volunteers at Margate! I'm placing this information here in the hope that it may help somebody, and to draw attention to the fact that the information being displayed in this Church hall and porch, as on 8/11/15, is FALSE. Safeguarding is so important and yet false and obviously misleading information is displayed. I can but hope this will be corrected soon. However, as it has been raised with the priest, and the higher Church Authorities to no avail to 8/11/15, my family, which includes children, young people and vulnerable adults, aren't holding their breath. Very sad.
