Staff are amazing. However, It takes months to fix any machines. Most of the cable machines are out of order for more than two months and still counting!!
There's always something going wrong with the swimming area, today they closed the pool because of high chlorine levels at 10: 30 in the morning with the pool full , people just getting in .Why didn't they test it at 6:00am when they opened and closed the pool to all arrivals with a notice outside. The jacuzzi invariably is closed because of high chlorine levels .The pool is constantly being topped up with a hose pouring cold water in. The locker rooms are shabby and often cold ,the place needs a makeover. But I suppose they will tell us not to complain with subs at £20 per month.
Possibly the worst gym I have been to and I have been in few very bad ones. So many machines “out of order” even the water machine has not been working for weeks, we have to take the water from a tap that is in the shower. It is very dirty, I haven’t seen anyone cleaning the changing rooms in 7 months that I have been coming almost every day. The instructors don’t come to the clases and the staff doesn’t notify anything, don’t apologize, some days we have been waiting 20 minutes for the instructor and none said anything until we ask. The layout of the gym doesn’t make any sense. I wouldn’t recommend it to any friend at all. It is a joke.
If it's not broken, or out of order gym machines you want. Then consider contracting 'legionaires disease' legionella instead. There's evidence of very poor cleanliness and a deep lack of safe hygiene regarding the swimming pool, small steam room, small sauna room and jacuzzi spa areas. All these facility areas are over used, overcrowded by many different people on a daily basis, due to cheap membership fees. And I have to say some of the users I have seen in here, are very unhygienic, unhealthy to say the least. Phlegm and spit on the floors. The regular potent stench of urine in both steam and sauna rooms is terrible. The jacuzzi spa is often closed because of the same problem, contamination of spa water. And the Everlast manager and counter staff all know about it! Why these areas are not disenfected swilled out thoroughly multiple times a day, I don't know; laziness, cost cutting, staff problems, lack of care to customer? Be advised if you want to wallow and relax in someone elses urine or potentially catch legionnaires disease, then come here and use the 'wet facilities' in the Everlast Gym in Sale. This gym should put to rest and be shut down, it's well past its' day and so are all the internals. The customer complaints that get raised here daily is a testimony to those facts.
Cable Machines are all practically out of order, they is 3 cables left 2 of them are used all the time by a PT. Smith Machines Broken. Pulldown machines have been broken for months. When i asked staff when they will be fixed i was answers rudely. I have also not been offered any compensation considering i pay monthly and can’t cancel the payment. Finally, I do not recommend this gym
Best value for money out of all the gyms in my opinion, friendly staff, clean equipment, get a membership while you can I'd say.
The staff is lovely, but the gym in general is so filthy with lots of equipment not working or being really worn out. The gym was always overcrowded and the women’s wardrobe is the most disgusting wardrobe I’ve ever entered. The floor was so dirty and disgusting with mold and dust everywhere and even rubbish in the corners. It was always freezing and had the door open? You’d think people might want some privacy? I’ve never gotten out of a gym shower and felt more dirty then when I entered. Just in general the most filthy and disgusting gym I’ve ever been to. Someone please just tear this old ruin down already or let another owner purchase this and renovate this to make this gym an actual place people aren’t embarrassed to go to. Another annoying point is that they make you enter a long term contract for the best deal, I believe the lowest price is £22-24 per month for a 12 month contract. Why would you want to pay that when you could go to gym group that is cheaper and much cleaner and better or pay a little bit more to join snap fitness for actual quality?
One of the good gym near by with facilities like Steam & Sauna bath at a very reasonable monthly price..
I went to the gym which I'm a member of a couple of weeks ago and the weather was hot, the fans were on blowing lots of cold air and also blowing dust into the atmosphere, I had stinging eyes which became sore and very red I was also sneezing alot. I left the gym feeling very unwell Later that evening I couldn't talk my throat had swelled, along with struggling to breath. I have since had a really bad chest infection. So with the weather heating up soon I think I will be giving it a miss. I do like the gym and the machines buts not good breathing in that dust from the high ceilings and the lights which are on wires that seem to be covered in alot of dust. I cannot afford to be off work ill again
Very cheap membership resulting in over use and over crowding. I've noticed quite a lot of 'machine bullies' who stand behind you and ask when are you going to finish with the machine your on, when clearly there are other empty machines around to be used! Because of that and other reasons, I personally feel uncomfortable using this gym. It's meant to be a relaxed sociable public equal place, but it isn't. There's a lot of long time, local members who think they own the place who clearly like to lay down rules to other members. The mens locker room area is a shabby and could do with a complete overhaul, doors pulled off hinges, really crammed space to get changed in. And the worst is 'thieving' of personal items when your backs turned! For the amount of members who come here on a daily basis , Everlast need to employ more cleaners. The pool, steam , sauna areas need a good major disenfecting on a regular basis and litter picked up, but don't get it. Some resources are limited; there needs to be more poolside chairs available, for either visitors or members to use. What about an extra water fountain on the ground level? An extra punch bag in the lower studio? Why are members using their mobile phones by the poolside, in the sauna and on the machines ? Why aren't the staff monitoring this? There are signs up everywhere saying no mobile phones to be used, but members are using them in places they shouldn't and it goes unchallenged. Being a member, I think a lot of the machines are in the wrong locations, for example I'd like to see a few of the spin bikes moved to the lower studio for easy access and away from the stuffy small room their currently in. Not to mention, yet again 'machine bullies' who don't like others using the spin bikes when they're in the room, some members think they own the machines and they're entitled to use the room on their own, well they're not! And I'm fed up of having to tread carefully when I come to this gym. In my opinion, I wouldn't mind if the monthly membership fee doubled, if it meant weeding out bullies and over crowding and the facilities and equipment immediately improved; a better spacious locker room, the ability to use the equipment without being watched over by some obnoxious, self important oafs. Sadly this gym has been passed from hand to hand over the years i.e was called LA Fitness , Sports Direct and now Everlast and there's no quality here, it's certainly struggling to maintain its appeal. Hence the low membership fees, the regular 'open days' and the 'refer a friend' get a free month deal. It's all about quantity, how many people can we sign up and get through the door. Regardless of the resulting conditions. i.e main boiler broken, cold showers, pool out of action, steam room , spa out of action, unusable machines..... This isn't an Everlast gym, it's a local gym for local people, with a local mindset. Lastly stop, all Sale town shoppers using the car park and clogging it up. The car park is for club members only.
