I had a gastric sleeve op done by the wonderful Dr William Carr, I have to say he was superb. My surgery was February 2023 and I weighed a whopping 25 stone. I knew something had to be done, as I felt unhealthy and unconfident in my overall self. Dr Carr was so supportive in his techniques, so we’re all the staff really. Since February 2023 I am a healthy 9 stone 11 loosing 15 stone in 1 & half. I couldn’t have think of best way to spend £13,000. It was worth it in my eyes. I now wear nice fitted clothes instead of baggy un-appealing clothes like I wore at the height of me being 25 stone. Advice to anyone thinking of getting a gastric sleeve, it is painful for the first month - so painful but it gets better and it’s worth it from the outcome, times when the pain was unbelievable I was prescribed pain morphine, and at times that didn’t even cut the pain, but I thought to myself this is going to work out for the best and it did. Overall I’d defiantly recommend Washington hospital/spire.
I have been trying to book consultation for my daughter, despite insurance company approving this you insisted that i have a doctors referral - i obtained this and tried to send multiple times - your email system keeps rejected it - appears it doesn't accept attachment as emails without attachments go through fine - after numerous phone call I asked if another email address was available and simply told no ...... so left in total limbo - poor service and attitude - no offer of help. wasted hours on this.
The waiting area and reception team are lovely, even the man who did my ultrasound was amazing. My issue is with the complete disrespectful attitude from the doctor who did my consultation afterwards. He disregarded everything I said about my pain and harshly proded at my breasts , not checking , basically stabbing me with his fingers. He sent me away saying "breast tenderness" ladies we know what breast tenderness feels like it is not feeling sick due to the pain, being woken up by pain, not able to carry anything in my left hand because of the pain and it shouldn't be causing chills, tiredness and hotness in the area! I felt rushed out and disregarded I don't know if it's just because I'm 20 or what but the doctor who seen me was horrible.
Had a hip replacement here and cardiology support all staff are caring and very professional right down to the porters highly recommended thank you all
I went to this hospital to see a consultant as a NHS patient, I had a MRI scan the nurses that did my scan were two lovely ladies, however the consultant was rude, dismissive and didn't want to even speak to me, I took my husband in the room with me as I wasn't happy with the way I was treat with him on the first consultation, he never acknowledged my husband, and when I asked if I could have a trapped nerve, he abruptly said I don't know, then he told me I just needed pain management and for my age my spine was basically quite good, which is not true as other scans have proven that four vertebrae in my neck had rapidly deteriorated and have vertebrae in my lower back aren't good either, when asked questions he did not want to answer he snapped back, then he proceeded to take his dictaphone out and started speaking rapidly at it so he didn't have to answer, my husband said he was furious and he didn't even want me in there and he couldn't say anything because he felt like exploding, a utter disgrace.
I'm surprised and disappointed with a 3.7 rating shown above. My experience was quite the opposite, the reception staff were first rate and Mr Wynne-Jones the consultant I saw was a consummate professional who has helped me immensely. He steered me away from surgery, asked for patience and I'm now 90% 'there', I couldn't ask for more from either himself or the staff there. Thank you.
Deeply incompetent. Failed to schedule my mother's operation until she started hassling them, timing meant she couldn't visit for Christmas this year - but worth it so she'd be in less pain. Goes nil by mouth at the time requested, then operation brought forward, assured her lunch won't be a problem by someone who clearly had no qualification to make that statement. Comes in, checks into room, ready to go in only to be told now lunch is a problem - and then an hour later operation cancelled due to short staffing. So now my mother is upset, doesn't want to go through the stress again, wasted money and time, misses out on Christmas with family - this hospital is a disgrace. I'll note this all comes after last time they were about to do the wrong procedure on my mother - medical malpractice. Wynne Jones should be ashamed of himself, I hope he misses out on Christmas with his family so he knows what it feels like.
Thank you to all the team and the consultant for my recent procedure. I am so grateful for the care from all and being able to return to normality.Thank you.
I am currently being treated by Mr James Wokes. He has restored my faith in medicine. His attitude, knowledge and professionalism is above and beyond. Having worked in GP surgeries most of my adult life I became very disillusioned with the care given. James Wokes takes you back to “the good old days “where for feel not just a number or a box to tick for the system, but a patient he cares and worries about. His nursing staff in patient are majority lovely. Outstanding in my experience was Barbara, who was extremely efficient and professional. Another was Lavinia. I have no hesitation in recommending this surgeon and hospital.
As other reviews have said staff have no idea whats going on. I contacted the hospital as a self paying patient for a breath test for the diagnosis of a gut condition. I was told by phone and email, and even quoted prices, for a consultation with a GP, the test and another follow up consultation. When I saw the GP I was met with confusion; he had never heard of the condition and didn't know if the hospital offered the test. I waited for over an hour on a Friday evening and was met with more staff confusion and eventually told they didn't think they offered the test and sent home. I was also told theyd let me know if any other local providers offer the service but never heard back. To top things off the receptionist continually shouted in a busy waiting area for each patient to 'come on down' to their appointment while laughing, as if we were all in a game show rather than waiting for our hospital appointment. The whole experience felt like a comedy sketch about a badly run NHS service.
