Quick lunch good post office handy shop
Lovely little store, much like our general stores back home, only complaint was the hot food was a bit stale, but we ate it anyway, as there is no other store or cafe for miles.
I love this wee shop. It’s the centre of the universe! They’ve always got a good variety of foods, including a ‘free from’ section where I get my gluten free biccies! Friendly staff, who were happy to order some things in, just for me. Couldn’t do without our Spar!
Well stocked small supermarket. Friendly staff. In-store hot food take away. Small off licence.
Great selection of food and other seasonal items. Increasing amount of free from food. Offers are always very good. Other items can be expensive though. Has a hot and cold deli counter that serves food from 7am til around 2pm. There is a butcher counter, a post office and an off sales. The shop is open from 7am til 10pm, I think it opens 7:30/8am on a Sunday. Lottery and scratch cards also sold here.
Always happy to shop here. Most of the staff are super. Today I was in the shop and not at all pleased with the people that didn't have masks on. At least 6. This is a small shop. Why is this allowed. This would deter me from returning
Absolutely disgusted by the level of service I received there today. I have been going to this shop for 7 years now and after today I can say it will be my last trip to this store. I entered to get a few groceries and i was going about my business I when the manager approached me to say to me was I one a diet regime explaining that several of her staff had been complaining that I was lifting items up. Because I had been scanning barcodes on my phone to check for gluten. I then explained that I had celiacs disease and that I needed to be extremely careful about what I eat as it could make me very ill. I was asked to wear gloves next time which I totally understand but my gripe was how it was handled. Earlier in the store I went to get bread and a member of staff rudely informed me the isle was closed. Then politely asked me what I wanted. I told her I needed gluten free baps which she got. But if the staff where complaining about me having to scan an item someone could've approached me and asked if I needed anything or directed me to an area where they keep their free from range. Instead the staff went straight to their superior and I felt so embarrassed for having to look for food. I was livid and I left immediately. If I had a choice I'd eat anything but unfortunately I do not. Also another take away from my trip to the store was although staff had complained about my scanning of items neither one of them where practicing social distancing. With at least three members of Staff in the bread isle right next to one another. Again my gripe is with how I was treated. How the situation was handled. And maybe in future the staff at ballyhalbert spar can be more considerate to their customer and ask a question before going to a manager. Oh and also practice better social distancing because that's what's really important right now.
I think it's a lovely shop and all The staff are helpful if you need help. I've never had any problems, it's really convenient.
Great range of goods for a small village shop and truly heroic opening hours. Always super-clean too
Very polite staff with a good range of services and products. Always have we offers and deals and has a Post office !
