Agree with the … wild goose chasenThe metal gate is here. ///still.desire.tubes.nGoogle maps sends you on , the said Goose chase .nJust follow the path , there is a wooden gate , that leads to the back of what is left , or continue on for 50 metres and turn right . Voila .nCame here on a nice hot sunny day , very peaceful.
Lovely historic place. Tucked away in the village of Southwick. Hampshire. If I hadn't been walking past the entrance I would have missed it as its just an iron gate. Pathway is well maintained and leads you round past two huge ponds where we spotted a heron, onto the ruins itself. Only one wall is standing but it's well preserved. There was also a sign which says you can now do a circular walk around the golf course so one to try next time. Also a bonus is seeing the red wood tree so that must have been planted when the monks were there. So if anyone wants to visit the old priory ruins, head into southwick village and follow road heading towards southwick golf course. Park in d day memorial hall car park. Head back across the road and look for the iron gate which will take you to the ruin wall..
Nearly impossible to find and had to ask 2 different sets of people for directions, because Google maps sent us to the wrong residential property.nPoor signage when we eventually found it, after accidentally trespassing through private property. Very confusing pathway through a tiny hidden fence.nThe actual wall is only about 10 metres long, with very obviously modern bricking about halfway along.nBit disappointing, as there's no information at the location either.
Bit of a disappointment. A touch difficult to find. We parked across the street, then walked along a dirt road. Ignore the house and instead take a left through the wooden gate, walk past the lake and on your right is a wall. This wall is the only remains of the priory. A pity there's a golf course on the other side with the best views.
A little struggle to find it but if you park in the carpark behind the Gold Lion pub which is free. Head back out of the carpark & there is a small gate opposite. New fencing & gate put up inside. Not much to see just a wall but if you like history worth a visit.
