Story

Southwick Brewhouse was opened to the public in 2005 when Martin Bazeley from Suthwyk Ales decided it would be the perfect place to set up a real ale and cider shop. With his own brews to look after Martin realised the need to bring in some help. Just at that time Al Stringer had sold the Hawkley Inn near Liss and was keen to bring his expertise in the real ale market to run the Brewhouse, which he has been doing ever since. All the brewing equipment upstairs is available to the public to look around and see how things were done in the 1940's when Dick Olding was brewing there and supplying the Golden Lion next door and the original steam engine runs at the weekend to show exactly how all the old machinery worked. With over 150 different beers and ciders Southwick Brewhouse is the perfect place to stock up on a variety of local and foreign beverages and our hampers make great gifts for any occasion! In May 2013 Al decided to give the pub trade another shot and took up residence at the Carpenters Arms in Norfolk. Matt Hallett took over the running of the Brewhouse, just as tall, hairy and knowledgeable as Al, he is sure to help you find what you are looking for.

Mission

To stock an ever changing supply of real ale from all parts of the UK, which are not available in any of the mutiples. Heaven for the discerning drinker.

"The Southwick Brewhouse is steeped in history. Upstairs you will find an old Victorian steam engine run brewery, run by master brewer Dick Olding from 1906 until 1957 where at the incredible age of 81 he hung up his apron, kicked off his boots and locked the door for the last time. Bringing life back into the old Brewhouse in 2005 the downstairs has become the greatest real ale emporium in the South world!. With over 200 different real ales, ciders, fruit wines, liqueurs and gins there is something to tickle everyone's taste buds. The perfect place to pick up presents for hard to buy for friends and family or just fill your beer fridge with the best beers from across the country."

Brilliant shop with an even better range. Great to see so many local beers too. Can't recommend enough.
You'll find an excellent range of craft beers and ciders plus beer on draught to fill your growler as the Americans call a big pot for beer. The original brew house upstairs, with all the proper equipment preserved is a joy to see. Knowledgeable friendly service makes it easy to chose a beer to suit your taste. For immediate consumption, the brew house sits off the car park of the excellent Golden Lion pub were you can enjoy a fine English ale and a great meal. The perfect package.
First visit to the brew House since relaxation of restrictions eased. Found to be well stocked with a wide selection of ales, porters ciders and mead. Really helpful staff who can advise you if you are looking to try something different. Off sales also available of their own brews in sizes to suit all drinkers. Business is tucked away slightly but with ample parking and a short walk from the D Day Hall.
Have just ordered online beers. Delivery was speedy and the beers always taste great. Miss going to this place to browse at all the beers, wines etc. Great variety. The cheery shopkeeper is working his socks off and is doing a fab job keeping everyone topped up! Well worth a visit or an order. Hopefully can visit again soon.
The Southwick Brewhouse is a gem for south coast beer lovers as well as those who enjoy ales, meads, wines, and ciders too!. The selection available from local and national breweries of all sizes is second to none. The service is exceptional. The pricing is very good. This is exactly the type of small independent business that breweries and consumers alike should be supporting so that it can survive in these uncertain times.
Great selection of local ales and ciders. Friendly staff.
If you like ales, cider, mead and history along with an excellent service then the Brewhouse is worth the visit. Even during the pandemic they have a great and interesting selection. Can not find a fault even with the rain hammering down.
This a review of the brewhouse not the pub as i haven't been in yet. Nice cask beer off licence to take home, normally 4 or 5 different ones and free samples. Lots of cyders in bottles and boxes and bottled/canned beers to try. Staff really friendly too.
Great selection of quality beers and wines. Knowledgable staff and a tour of the olld brew house if you have time although stairs are involved.
Excellent selection of beers available including takeaway draught ale. Highly recommend a visit if you have not been there before. Remember to take a look upstairs in the mini museum
