We stopped at Southwark station on the afternoon of Thursday 23 July to have the Young Visitor discount added to our daughters' Oyster cards.nThe member of staff who helped us was genuinely kind, welcoming and friendly from the very first moment.nThere was also a funny little moment. When I asked if he could add the discount, I thought the problem was one of the self-service machines. Smiling, he replied that the problem wasn't the machine... it was him! He was joking about the fact that his system didn't always cooperate.nWhen he tapped the first Oyster card, we all jokingly held our breath... and it worked! We did exactly the same with the second card, and once again everything went perfectly. It turned into a lovely shared laugh and made the whole experience even more enjoyable.nnToo often people leave reviews only when something goes wrong. I wanted to write this one because great service and genuine kindness deserve to be recognised too.nThis wasn't an isolated experience. During our visits to London, using the Underground has always been one of the most enjoyable parts of our trips. The transport system is incredibly efficient, the stations are always clean, and the signage is so clear that it's almost impossible to get lost, even if you're visiting a station for the first time. What has impressed us the most, however, is the staff. More than once, all it took was a brief look of uncertainty for someone to approach us with a smile and ask if we needed any help. That level of care and attention really makes a difference.nI don't know the name of the member of staff who helped us, but I sincerely hope this review reaches him. Thank you for your kindness, your smile and for confirming once again the wonderful impression we have of TfL.
Southwark underground station is served by the Jubilee line this station is modern with with a wide entrance to enter and a circular ticket hall area with plenty of ticket barriers to use. There is disabled access at this station with lifts available this station is very busy in the morning and evening rush hour. Also you can interchange with national rail services from Waterloo East train station.
The station is 5 years ahead from most of other underground stations. Big building, nice and clean & wide galleriesnnThis is how some of the other stations should be renovated on Jubilee line.nnLods of entrance and exit doors, lods of stairs it actually can be quite problematic if lifts are not working and u need step free access and quite a few stairs.
Nice Modern looking Jubilee Line Station. Has a lift up to street level. Only ten to fifteen minutes away from the Tate Modern on foot
Wide entrance, modern station on Jubilee line with helpful staff. Has lift and escalators and they worked well on most occassion, except one when it was closed.
