About

Pie & Vinyl, Southsea's only Record Cafe.

Story

Southsea's only record and pie cafe has launched in Castle Road, just off the seafront! Created by music and pie lovers, for music lovers, who maybe also like to do pie.
You'll find the latest eclectic music releases on CD, vinyl and MP3, if we don't stock it we'll order it.
Our cafe area will be serving a wide range of pies sourced from Buckwells of Osbourne Road, and Pie Minister, as well as hot and cold beverages.
We also have plenty of poster art for sale. These are unique prints created for one gig only. If you consider yourself either a John Peel or an uneducated eel, you'll feel at home in Pie & Vinyl.

Sunday brunch, and what a munch! I attended with my daughter after looking for somewhere local serving quality food, the menu is small but simple and versatile, options for meat eaters, vegan, vegetarian and everyone alike. Everything is freshly made onsite and prepared with love, the staff were friendly but not imposing, very helpful with explaining the menu which has extensive add-ons without being extreme, they just allow you to build your meal your way, My daughter had the minted lamb pie with mash and peas and gravy, she enjoyed it but noted that having minted pushy peas and mint an lamb pie was too minty, something she can correct next time and no reflection on the quality or niceness of the food, i had the Jackfruit pie with mustard mash, minty mushy peas and gravy with crispy onion and cheesy topping, wow, a real journey in the mouth, a journey, each mouthful was an explosion of flavour, the portion size is very generous, turn up hungry if you order and be prepared for musical journey in your mouth, the atmosphere adds to the experience, being surrounded by the nostalgia of talented musicians in the form of sound, really nice music playing in background and visually, your surrounded by iconic figures in photos, records Vinyl and musical ambiance, the tables and chairs are quirky interesting and full of historic life. Oh and tea in a Pot, with China cups, you cant go wrong, attention to detail is well thought out and enticing, screaming out care, love and thoughtfulness. The menu is fair priced and excellent value for money. Both my daughter and i agreed that it was a highlight of the area and would return solely to dine here, that was the power of the venue, quality & tastiness of the food, and fine standard of staff. Thank you thank you thank you. Vegetarian options: Certainly more than enough, options to not feel like you are any different from a meat eater, equality at its finest.
Fascinating odds and ends.. blast's of the past set in a small compact area that delivers a nostalgic theme.. vegan gluten free well done pretty much all good Food: 4/5
This is an unbelievable spot. The food is amazing, and the general vibe is lovely. Service also great, one of my favourite spots in PortsmouthFood: 5/5
Weird that this highly-rated, good-value, music-themed food place next to the common was closed early when we came for dinner when Victorious was on. Expected it to be packed with festival-goers. 4 stars because I don't know what to put since it was closed when it said it would be open online.
What a great treasure this place is. The meals are gorgeous and many are 'naturally' gluten free with vegetarian and vegan options also available to cater for everyone. Really lovely and friendly service to boot. A great array of vinyl - along with a system to request a record that they currently don't stock - is just the icing on the cake. Thoroughly recommend for lovers of pies, vinyl and friendly local businesses. Dietary restrictions: Many pies and dishes are gluten free.
Called in today to purchase a gift voucher for a friend so decided to sample the culinary fare. Had the lamb pie with minty mushy peas and mustard mash which was very tasty indeed. The local beer I had was good as well. Pity they didn't do ice cream as after that lot a cake was just one too much! Vegetarian options: Didn't really look at these, but these was certainly a selection for vegans, vegetarians and those who just fancied the dishes...
It's been some years 2017 since our last trip to Portsmouth and we were so excited to see that you were still open! So, you were our first stop into town and like before, we weren't disappointed. I had the Moo & Blue this time and it was great. I usually have a vegetarian pie and those options today all looked good as well. The Englishman, hubby had the Porksea Islander, tasty and we shared a side of mushy peas. The peas were perfect with a nice hint of mint. The only wish I have is that you had wine to go with the meal, but heyho we'll be back again and hopefully not so many years between visits. Thanks from the American living in Spain and hubby! Parking: Parking is or can be the trouble here. Today we were fortunate to find a 2 hour street spot outside the co-op grocery store not far away.
Never been/ eaten anywhere like it! What an amazing little place. A great variety of pies whether your a meat eater, veggie or vegan. Pie combinations you’ve never thought of. After eating why not have a hunt around in their shop for a vinyl or two. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this unique experience!
One of my favourite places in Southsea, in fact it’s one of three reasons we moved here 8yrs ago. The pies are sensational, sitting on top of a pile of mustard mash and pease. However the price for pie and mash at nearly £12 is high so probably not coming here as often as we’d like.Recommended dishesBubble Mushy Peas
Tables were all occupied when we arrived but staff let us know when a table became free while we were browsing for records. The moo and blue was delicious. Great pies, good selection of vinyl, friendly staff, what more could you want Food: 5/5
