Great service considering its the only service on the island. Some drivers are friendly but why charge £6 for a child day pass when I could pay £3.20 in Southampton and they are part of the same organization? I also know that lots of people need service 4 and keeping the timetable to a low frequency service causes people to get the 5 & 9 just to get into Ryde! The 4 is the worst effected. Why not just make it every half an hour than hour?
An isle of wight service that only cares about getting your money.... totally inadequate payment service for the island. There are barely any cash machines left here, often miles from a bus stop, and the payment system they use will blacklist your card if a payment ever bounces.... essentially cutting you off from public transport. Really clever. If I could give minus stars, I would. As much as l love a 5 mile walk in the rain despite having the means to pay for a journey. Added to that, the time tables are all wrong, you can expect the bus to arrive...eventually. added to that, the app will not let you buy a single ticket. Spend £20 as a minimum. And that's only any good when there is signal for the Internet.. and as many islanders will know, the signal is as good as it was in the 90s for alot of the island. Southern vectis- whoever is responsible for this system needs to have a word with themselves. Imorral theives. It's disgusting and it's deliberate. No one can be that incompetent.
Southern vectis is one of the best transport services in the south coast for a definite however I do have a few complaints 1stly when I was about 11 and just to clarify I am autistic and diagnosed with ADHD the bus driver that took me on my first but ride on my own was 1 rude 2 didn't even say a word all he did was point to the back, which it turned out to be the fact there was people getting off, which I didn't know, then he didn't wait for me to find a seat, he just went and I fell over and nearly hit my head, not a good look to the public, being autistic I was not happy about this, had no idea what to do so I just found somewhere to sit and kept my mouth shut, I will be completely honest with you, it was a little thing but that was quite traumatic because I have photographic memory and remember it all No one even bothered asking me if I am ok they all just sat there Going to be honest with you that was completely out of line, now I know to be careful but the bus drivers not all still do it Absolutely unacceptable. I can hardly believe the skill of the drivers navigation the narrow streets of the Isle of Wight. We took a number of buses during our holiday here, and all the drivers were friendly and helpful and made it all look easy. top marks to you all!
An excellent bus company,with a wide range of tickets. Sunday and bank holiday services were very frequent and the drivers were very friendly and helpful. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the buses. Also the routes you cover are amazing for seeing the island.
As a non bus user usually, using the Vectis busses on the Island was fantastic, all drivers were helpful, polite & friendly. Thank you for making a car less holiday easy & enjoyable. Stagecoach could learn from you.
Today the 31 of July 2023 my wife and I decided to do something never before on the island , take the bus. Can I say thank you to Southern Vectis and all your staff, have been bus hoping all day every member of staff has been friendly knowable and every journey has been a joy. From now I'm using the bus it Brilliant
Absolutely brilliant bus service. London this is a public service!! Reliable regular services to a lot of places and all places of interest. Pricing is so complex but at moment they have a £2 capped fare per journey if you tap on and off or cash I believe. If not the £10-£14 day rider is great value. The bus journey for us is a mixture of emotions from braking for the driver to white knuckle manoeuvres and gaps. A must for all a upstairs trip through Ventnor. Vectis contact TFL and get there pricing software it’s so easy for the user giving the best price all the time…..no need for 39 pricing plans.
Excellent bus company. Great drivers and excellent engineers/mechanics.
Travelled on many Southern Vectis Buses whilst on holiday a few weeks ago. The scenery on the routes was amazing, especially the Needles Breezer. Buses are nice and clean, most have USB chargers and next stop announcements which is useful if you aren’t too sure where you are going!
