Small, easily navigable, extremely accessible with it's own train and bus stations plus car parks, and flights going everywhere. Infinitely better and easier and more comfortable than the likes of London's airports or elsewhere
Southampton Airport, located in Eastleigh, Hampshire, is a key regional airport in southern England, providing vital connectivity for both domestic and international travelers. Established as a commercial airport in 1932, it has a rich history, including its role as a base for the Royal Air Force during World War II. The airport primarily serves short-haul destinations across the UK and Europe, with airlines offering regular flights to cities such as Manchester, Dublin, and Amsterdam. Known for its convenience and efficiency, Southampton Airport features a single terminal with modern amenities, ensuring a smooth travel experience. Its strategic location, near major motorways and with direct rail links to London, makes it an important hub for business and leisure travelers in the region.
Very small airport, but a good gateway for the area. Train station is just next to it, so very easy to reach.
Fantastic to fly out from a small airport with polite helpful staff and to be so close to planes. Not crowded and facilities were excellent.
Southampton Airport. Where do I begin. On a whole, this airport was lacking in charm and warmth. The staff were lovely, I cannot fault them. However, the majority of the eateries were closed. I unfortunately had a gluten-free sandwich by accident. This is clearly due to the labelling of the sandwich not being to standard. Furthermore, my vegetarian friend really struggled to find anything of sustenance to eat. This meant a terrible mood for the duration of our flight. She was also sick and the tissues in the shop were ridiculously expensive. Despite the above, I will be returning to Southampton Airport. It is a local airport, and for a small airport, it has the basics, I suppose. Staff = great Amenities = not so great
It may as well be a bus shelter and a bar across the road. Poor and dated facilities. It looks and feels like a repurposed WW2 hanger. I'd only recommend using it when totally necessary and even then I'd check my options carefully. The airport can't even keep their own website up-to-date, it's so lacking in investment and care.
A small airport that has limited choices for food and what you do get has inflated prices when I did eventually get something to eat from the bar I had to take it back as it was cold. The service throughout the airport was not the best as trying to make enquiries about lost property was a nightmare I'm still waiting for a response from the lost property desk
10/10 for convenience and location however the staff in security are possibly the worst I have ever encountered. They really need some training on how to deal with customers. They are total jobsworths and totally inflexible. What does it matter if your toiletries are in a slightly bigger transparent bag as long as they are all less than 100ml? Check-in staff too busy on social media and talking about their plans for the weekend to check passengers in. Horrible start to our trip!
Small little airport the facilities are basic, does have a Costa coffee and the globe bar and kitchen however it’s only open during limited hours only. There is a decent sized seating area and there is a taxi rank directly outside. The car park is not too overpriced like other airport parking can be. Overall not bad at all
Traveling from Southampton airport today, it's calm and quiet, no hassle but just been through security check and they use the full body scan, I personally find this intrusive, at least it's a generic image of a 'body' and not a personal image, also the trays to put your items in are the dirtiest I've ever seen, black with dirt and grim, i felt so unclean touching them let alone putting my personal item's into them. We went upstairs to the lounge for a drink and to wait for the flight, ordered 2 gin & tonic's which were served to us in dirty, cloudy water marked glasses , we asked for them to be changed which the lovely lady did. My experience at Southampton airport is good overall, very glad to have it, but it could do with attention like a really good bleach and spring clean.
