Story

South Square Centre is a community centre and art gallery in the heart of Thornton, Bradford. The centre comprises of art galleries, community spaces, archive, Rushworth's fine art framers, The Cobbles bar, Plenty Cafe, as well as a variety of artist studio spaces. The centre hosts community events and a workshop programme for all ages, there are also community and meeting room spaces available to hire.

The building is a collection of 19th Century Stonemason's cottages, in the village of Thornton, famous as the birthplace of the Bronte sisters and for its impressive 22-arch viaduct. South Square was renovated as a community arts centre in 1982, and since has been run by charity Thornton and Allerton Community Association Ltd, committed volunteers and a small team of part time staff.

A really lovely place to visit,  great artwork and very friendly cafe with homemade vegetarian  food

Went here in the Spring when there was a Vegetarian Cafe that was fantastic. Imaginative food, well cooked, reasonable prices with friendly and efficient service.

Move forward to the present time and find it has changed hands to become 'Plenty' an ironic name considering the small portions.  Service took for ever, and then menu had few choices.  If they ask you whether you want your food warmed then say 'No' because they just ram it under a grille and blast it.  Even the salad was a very poor amalgamation of a very few ingredients; nothing like the imaginative and exciting salads provided by the Vegetarian Cafe.   Oh it might improve but after my bitter disappointment I won't be giving them s second chance, sorry.

Really interesting corner of the village. Great arts space. It contains a vegetarian cafe-cum-gallery, a picture framer, a micro pub and the local history group

Visited the cafe as south square. Lovely people and great food. Good to see a veggie cafe with such mouthwatering food.
