South Lakeland covers an area of 600 square miles including a variety of landscape features. The district falls within the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. On the East of the district are Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh and Dent. It has 45 electoral wards and 51 councillors.
