Well, where to start. Visited here with the other half over the weekend. Decided to go for meals we wouldn’t usually have - I had octopus starter, monkfish main. Absolutely sublime. Mrs had a full sea bass - best fish I have tested in my existence and the owner even gutted it for us even though he was busy! Finished off with a homemade strawberry cheesecake and lovely cocktails. Staff all very attentive and friendly , a real family feel about the place. Cannot recommend this place enough. If I’m ever in the area I will 100% be popping in. Thank you!
The restaurant is small and cosy with a welcoming atmosphere. There were a small number of tables so I would suggest booking in advance. The food was cooked nicely, hot and tasted amazing. We were given bread, chips and potatoes alongside our main which was a nice surprise. The food looks, tastes and feels very authentic. Dimitri himself was running around helping out the staff. The staff were extremely friendly with great attitudes. We felt really looked after during our meal. I plan to come back here soon as I had such a lovely time. Parking: Parking can be a bit difficult in the area depending on the night, I would suggest parking in Carlton Street car park as it isn't too expensive.

We have been fortunate to visit this Taverna before, when visiting our relatives in the area. It never ceases to fail. From the moment you walk in, you are greated like one of the family. The restaurant is well presented, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. The menu is extensive, plus specials available. Prices are a little high, considering where you are, but well worth it. Service is quick, well presented and delicious. Demetri's is well worth a visit. We'll definitely return soon.
Lovely restaurant. Looks from the outside are totally transformed when you meet the warm and friendly staff and sample the vibrant atmosphere inside. Slightly pricey, but when you need calamari, you won't regret it! Well worth a visit.
Food and service were brilliant, asked for steak well done and for personal taste, it wasn't initially. Staff amazing whisked it away and brought a new one out. Hadn't booked so really appreciated they fitted us in. Very clean, professional and highly recommend. Cocktails lovely too, gorgeous bottle of NZ Savignon Blanc, really couldn't have had a nicer evening thank you.
I would give this place 10 stars if there was the option. I can’t even begin to describe how amazing and friendly the owner and the staff were. After being stood up and walking in there on my own and changing my table from a two to a one the owner sat me up in his place at the bar so the staff could communicate with me and said no way was I’m gonna be sat eating alone at a table. The staff were incredible so lovely and engaging. The food was incredible! 10 stars!!! And what I couldn’t eat they put in tubs for me to take away. I honestly cannot recommend anywhere better to eat.
Demetri's Taverna it is more than a place where to eat , it is the right place to BE ! Demetri himself is warm and welcoming, always telling a good word or a story, always helping regarding the menu. The staff is absolutely brilliant . The atmosphere it is incredible, just right for you to feel at your best ! I left at the last the food...it will take me many moons to say about it, all I can say now it is this : EXQUISITE and going straight for the heart and soul ! A true blessing indeed this place !
My first visit. We were made very welcome and were well looked after. Even at 6.15 it was fairly busy and soon filled up. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. Will definitely go back.Food: 5/5
One of the worst greek restaurants we have been. There was an hour delay until we were served the main meal. We sat there watching the near tables who arrived 20-30 minutes later than us been served and when we asked for our meal the fish filet had bones and tasteless. The chicken kebabs one portion was burnt. The chips, salad and pitta bread was just enough for one person and not for four people. On our way out the owner asked numerous personal questions and when we expressed our concerns about the poor service, the bad food and the size of portions, he answered with a quick ' sorry ' and quickly walked away. Definitely the worst experience we had in a greek restaurant ever, and we went to numerous ones before.
