Staff and restaurant very pleasant. We went mid-week so it was a bit quiet. Starters were very good , I had mussels and my wife had scallops...lovely. My main of linguine and seafood was really tasty , unfortunately my wife's main of cod and vegetables was not so good - cod over cooked , to many carrots and the broccoli was not fresh ! We finished with a dessert each , very nice sorbet. So it was not a great meal but it was good . We would go back and give it another try perhaps on a weekend .
Nice cosy Italian Restaurant - we went Nov 2017 and it was very busy. Nice atmosphere and good helpful waiters. Waited a bit for the menu but food was fantastic, as was the wine. Waiters forgot to bring my vegetables but when asked they came immediately. Would definitely go back again.
This is a somewhat new Italian restaurant in town. They've got simple, but tasteful decor, and the staff were SUPER friendly. Very reasonable rates for food and drink, and we never felt cramped by the waiter coming by. They don't really seem to advertise it, but they specialise in seafood based Italian dishes using local fish sources. Had a lovely date here. :
Important: this is NOT an Italian restaurant as the name says, but a Romanian restaurant. They've recently changed the menu and probably the management, but preserved the name. You'll not know this is not Italian until you'll open the menu. This is quite a bad point as clients can be fooled thinking they are going to an Italian restaurant but then find something completely different. Also take care when reading old reviews as they probably refer to the old really Italian Sorano's. Now let me go through the actual restaurant. As I said before, the cuisine is typical Romanian. This is interesting as there aren't many Romanian restaurants around. I had a starter, some meat and a second. The starter was not really convincing but not bad as well. As a second I had minced meat wrapped in cabbage, and that was fairly OK. I did not like the meat as it was tasteless and dry. The wine was very good, as the menu of wines is the same as the old Sorano's. The staff is kind and competent. Why I give two stars only? First, I really do not appreciate that they are keeping the "Italian" label. They should do it asap, as now that can be considered to be a scam. The food was not bad but far to be considered good. The place was quite noisy as it was full of little kids running and shouting around. To summarize, I was happy to try Romanian food, but I would not suggest to go there.
Lovely food, nice friendly atmosphere and great staff - attentive but not unnecessarily so. We had Pollo Milanese which was cooked perfectly and our desserts were not only beautiful to look at, but beautiful to eat. I had tartufo bianco & my friend had mango semifreddo both of which were lovely. A good selection of wine and a good choice of half bottles too. Great value for a delicious meal and the fact it was pretty busy mid-week was recommendation in itself. Will definitely return to this gem in Thorrington.
Menu has changed so do not expect much of an 'Italian' cuisine. Lets start with the staff. Two of the waiters were very polite and friendly but the third one was making faces and rolling their eyes when asked politely to get us some parmesan. Needless to say thats unprofessional. Starters were very nice which made me look forward to eating the main dish and thats where I was so disappointed. Ordered a mixed grill and all meats were horrible. Tasteless, chewy and dry.
Had a company Christmas meal in this restaurant last night, very disappointed!!! Firstly we were rushed between first and second courses so much so that we had to say to the waiter stop, we will call you when we want our last course, the starters were very small and disappointing, never had Scollops in a cheese sauce ,which overpowered the delicate taste, Main course disappointing again, very small dish of food, could have had better at Tesco , desert wow !! Not worth any comment. In short I worked all year to have some food with my colleagues at Christmas and we all left feeling hungry and cheated, so disappointed.....and over priced, sorry
Overall I was very disappointed. Prices are very high, we waited ages for the food .The mixed grill was chewy and portion was small compared to others out there.As we were booking as a group one guy has received his meal after all of us finished our meal.Never go back there.
We had a wonderful evening in a very relaxed and warning environment. Staff were very attentive and helpful, went above and beyond to make it a great night, not forgetting the lovely food.
Excellent food, great customer service, lovely atmosphere. Don't hesitate to go there and experience delicious Romanian cuisine.
