Fantastic Seafood. Informal setting with friendly staff. Be aware children’s push chairs aren’t permitted which could have created an issue had we not been able to move to a booth and use the car seat for our 3 month old to sleep in whilst we ate. Recommend the Lobster and Chips of course! We’ll be back.
BEST FISH & CHIPS in Southwold? We had the fish and chips cod and Fish tacos, both very good choices. The fish tacos were massive, fresh fish and super crunchy batter. The guac was also fresh and tasty! The cod and chips was HUGE, batter was crispy, light and super brown. The dressed crab has got to be one of the highlights of Sole Bay and you can here everyone talking about it when they come out. Honestly think Sole Bay is the best fish and chips in town. 100% must do when in Southwold, don’t forget to pick-up some fresh catches before going in the crabs are particularly good too.
What a beautiful spot to enjoy fresh seafood. Whilst the fish and chips smelled divine, we opted for the crab seafood platter which was fantastic value for money for all of the delicious variety: cromer crab, Mussels, Prawns... the home made mushy peas should not be missed either. It was lovely to be seated right on the water and see the fishing spots where the fresh seafood would have been caught earlier in the morning.
It's the type of place where you constantly look at other tables to see what they've ordered, so that next time you can try more of the menu! Everyone else's food looked just as good as ours. It was a really good menu, and specials, but we opted for a platter. Friendly staff, nice relaxed atmosphere, and the decor is great - so much to look at!
Absolutely lovely. A must try if you're a seafood lover. Daily specials, smallish wine and beer list. Not much in the cocktail department either, but once you start eating, all is forgotten. Wonderful service and superfriendly staff.
Loved it here. Fishmongers, restaurant and takeaway. Indoor restaurant and outdoor seating. We had takeaway fish and chips which were great. The Fishmongers was also really good - picked up some great fresh fish. Scallops, sole and rock fish.
We loved this restaurant. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. The fish was delicious and the accompaniments too. We will be back as soon as possible, there is so much on the menu that we can't wait to try! Excellent.
Really lovely spot at the harbour. Service has been a little brusque each time we have visited over the past few years - not very friendly or welcoming. Fairly steep prices reflect that this is a tourist destination, although food is usually pretty decent. Kids meal of a single sausage, a few chips and some chopped cucumber was fairly uninspiring although in fairness well received by our 8 year old. My fish and chips weren't as good as their sister restaurant in the town as were a bit greasy. My wife's sea bass was both expensive and undercooked. It's still a great place in a great spot but feels like some extra care and attention to the details by those running it wouldn't go amiss.
An authentic fish restaurant on the harbour front. The fish was fantastic, I had the chargrilled crevettes and would definitely recommend. The service was good and the atmosphere on the harbour was great, makes for a lovely walk before or after your meal.
Rustic dining experience along the working harbour of Southwold on the East Coast: Seasonal fresh fish caught locally and served traditionally on a wooden platter. A taste sensation and a must visit.
