This is a great toy store with plenty of choice for children of all ages, very comfortable to walk and browse around, I've been spoilt for choice here at times, so sometimes buy gift vouchers which are available and let the little ones have the delight in choosing their own toys... They'll love the experience...nThere's also a large car park with lots of spaces next to the store, but there's a two hour limit, so please be careful not to overstay...nThe store is just a 10-15min walk from the bus station and is near the Mansfield Town Football ground...nThere are also a few other stores of variety here on the retail park to pop into if you have the time...nIt's well worth the effort!!nHappy Toy shopping!!
Extremely Rude and Unprofessional Staff at this store. Totally Unacceptable.nnI visited the store to exchange a product and was initially being served by a staff member at the counter. When she asked for the receipt, I realised I didn’t have it on me and told her I’d quickly go and check where I picked up the replacement item, as I may have dropped it. My wife and two young daughters stayed in our place at the front of the queue, clearly indicating we were still mid-transaction.nnWhen I returned just a few minutes later with the receipt in hand, the staff member refused to continue the exchange and insisted I join the back of the now much longer queue. I calmly explained that I had already been served and simply stepped away to find the receipt, but she spoke to me in an unprofessional and dismissive manner. Despite seeing my family still waiting, she refused to acknowledge that we hadn’t left our place.nnShe then called over the manager, who didn’t give me a chance to explain what happened. He immediately sided with the staff member, cut me off, and told me to leave the store. I was treated with complete disrespect and no effort was made to resolve the situation fairly or professionally.nnTo be honest, I left the store feeling not only humiliated, but questioning whether the way I was treated had anything to do with the fact that I’m a Black man. I would like to believe that wasn’t the case, but the lack of courtesy, empathy, and basic decency from both staff and management makes it hard to ignore the possibility that unconscious bias may have played a role.nnThis experience has left a very bitter taste. As a parent and paying customer, I expected a much higher standard of service from a family-focused retailer like Smyths.
Two weeks past we purchased numerous gifts for the granddaughter from Smyths Mansfield one of which was a push bike. The store operative asked if we wanted the bike built in store to activate the 12month warranty at a cost of an additional £10. Being sensible we accepted and provided the required telephone number to contact when the bike had been built, took the receipt and left to wait for the call.nHere’s where the problems started. After the first week had passed without a call, we decided to contact Smyths via the telephone number on the receipt/on-line. No answer, and no answer to the calls made through the rest of that day, and each day following until two weeks had passed. We then returned to the store and spoke to the shift Manager. “Can I help” was the opening line, started well. I explained the situation and he said “you won’t get through on the phone”. No apology at all and what’s the point in having a phone that rings constantly nobody ever answers I asked? No response given.n“Go to the counter and I will get the technician to bring you one out. We always have these bikes built up ready”. Why did I have to wait on the day of purchase for the bike if they are always built up ready?nThe bike arrived with the technician and the front wheel, handlebars and mudguard didn’t line up. I asked “are these all supposed to be in line when you get a bike that has been built by yourselves?”n“It is all in line and the basket may make it seem out of line as it’s been squashed in the box”.nI think the technicians eyes may have been in the same box!nPictures paint the words.nNext comment was “make sure you keep the warranty envelop and the receipt as you need to bring the bike back within 3 months for a health check. The chain stretches and the brakes loosen”. Not sure how that will happen when the bike will be packed away for Christmas!nNeedless to say that the 3 months start from the purchase date so nearly two and a half months will elapse before the bike will go in its maiden voyage. It will then have to go back to the shop to be checked over by this seamless professional show called Smyths.nDon’t let none of this sway your decisions as it may be a one off. Pls see other reviews…
Me and my 5 year old daughter love this shop and often visit even if we don't particularly need to buy anything.nSmyths toys superstores have a massive selection of games, toys and activities that cater for big and little kids.nThere is plenty to see and buy in this shop.
Very satisfied with the management of this store. I had bought a nemo play gym for a cost of £60. Upon getting home and putting this together I soon realised that the item was faulty and didn’t play music. I took this back to the store where the manager didn’t hesitate to assist me with my problem. He got me a new product and tested this while in store to ensure I was happy it was working and was very apologetic. Highly satisfied with my working product and the professional way management dealt with my issue.
