SMUG Lifestyle Store

Story

SMUG is the brainchild of local Islingtonian Lizzie Evans. Lizzie remembers spending her pocket money in Camden Passage as a little girl, and now as an interior and graphic designer, she has turned a regular shop front into a light and airy designed space filled with melamine kitchenware, retro glassware, handmade toys and chic ceramics.

The space retains its old waxed boards and rusty manhole covers, but introduces sheets of glass as balustrades and portions of the floor, allowing light to penetrate the downstairs of the retail haven.

As well as designing, sourcing for and running the shop, Lizzie continues to work as a graphic designer. She of course designed the SMUG brand including the design of the website and has also branded the Lodeveans Collection, a contemporary art collection which hangs its art on the walls of Smug. www.lodeveanscollection.com

Smug recently opened a cafe which I've yet to check out, but the venue has the perfect place for it. The shop has beautiful on trend homeware and stationery as well as some of the best hard to find magazines like Frankie, Wrap and Smith journal. I love the branding and the hamster logo labels on the gorgeous paper bags they wrap your purchases in. Right next door is Loop if you're a maker you might happily enjoy a meander there too.
I love wandering around Smug, even though their bits and bobs rarely change. This is the place for silly enamel cups, nice T-Shirts, giant wool blankets, and colourful pens for work. A really charming little neat place, and not as painfully expensive as it looks like it all should be.
Charming shop with original albeit unchanging stock. However, Smug has an inflexible policy on exchanges etc so it's buyer beware. Unfortunately the very real charm of the shop is not reflected in the service; the poor attitude and owner's surliness has put this particular regular customer off for good.
Cute little boutique, filled with the quirky. Saw Felicity Cloake, food writer for the Guardian, Instagram her Smug buy: a tea towel with a guinea pig on it. Gorgeous stationary and blankets so soft you could spend hours wrapped in them.
Though Smug doesn't have the old-fashioned charm of the nearby antique shops, it's a really lovely shop selling old-school stationery, homewares some new, some vintage and other bits and bobs.
Smug is another top spot for buying handmade, all stylishly put together by Lizzie Evans. I’ve got a thing about Formica furniture, and they have lots of that too.
This is like visiting a friend's flat who has really cool stuff... from the white floorboards and the cosy wool blankets to the Formica tables and the ceramic enamel crockery, there's so much to covet. I'm not necessarily sure I want to buy things here so much as just live in this shop!
Cosy nice handmade homedeco specially their cosmic color ceramic bowl. £25 each.but it's a piece of art
SMUG is overflowing with quality. A carefully selected choice of products that can make a house a home. Hygge
Small shop filled with loads of gorgeous stationary, great household items and beautiful books/magazines. Worth a look!
