Food is always really good and service is always friendly and helpful, I've always found this place does not get the attention it deserves however on the bright side I can always get a table whenever I go there.
Best burgers in Reading, especially the Blackened Cajun Chicken. Was formally Monroes. Recently tried the Southern fried wings which are exceptional, nice little kick and great flavour.
I have really enjoyed working at Billys as the HD Supervisor and have been there since June 2019 and each night there is always something new. We have a good friendly atmosphere an my door staff always try to treat customers fairly , and since the introduction of full searches and id scan checks we have seen a huge drop in problems. We still get the odd one or two but nothing major and the Door team always act Professionally and to the best of there ability when dealing with things. I have enjoyed working with Billy as hes been the best manager i have worked for since i started working the doors many years ago. Also the food is of very good quality and staff very friendly
Ridiculous pricing for drinks, even by London standards expect to pay £5+ for basic larger. Dirty feel throughout, air conditioning was broken. Sort out the pricing, do some maintenance and this place could have promise as the food is reasonable. Edit: Owner seems to want to highlight some events hes hosted, I'd suggest he focuses on improving his attitude. Bash Wetherspoons all you will, they put your establishment to shame.
They charged 5 pounds admission at around 3:20am, told everyone they will have opened till 5am, but stopped serving at around 3:50
They had one of the best sets that night. The music was just perfect, we danced until morning. Friendly staff, good drinks and nice atmosphere. We had a blast!
Great food and service, the waiters were both very friendly and the owner Billy came to talk to us after the meal. Very good value. I'd definitely recommend! We went for the mississippi sharer between 4 of us and couldn't finish it.

A meal we will never forget, for all the right reasons! Out on a stag do we took a chance on Billys Smokehouse to provide us with some much needed nourishment. We'd been doing activities all day so we weren't even drunk yet and it was around 7pm. As we had to wait half an hour for the food to come they offered us complimentary shots on the house, and while we were coming in from an cigarette outside Billy, the owner, challenged us to a game of fusball, 2 against one, the winner getting another free shot! We lost of course but it was still fun - a very welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. We ordered 40 wings and 3 combo sharers and let me tell you it was the most incredible table of food we could have dreamed of - it all tasted amazing and was piping hot! It was a dream, really. After the meal one of the guys spotted a folded up table tennis table and asked the staff if we could get it out. What followed was a table tennis tornament which must have lasted over an hour, Billy even gave us a Billys Smokehouse embroider t-shirt for the winner! It was fantastic. The beer kept flowing and we couldn't have wished for a better time. The staff were lovely and so warm. At the end when we settled the bill it worked out to £30 each, with a tip included. Perfect. That was one night we will never forget and if ever we go back to reading we will be sure to go there. Thank you Billy and your wonderful staff, you are the best!
Terrible Atmosphere I've checked this place out since visiting because it was awful and the owner, an old guy called Billy, has a mouth like a sewer and an attitude to match. I was listening to him serving customers and if they dared um and arr over what drink to have I heard him tell them hurry up as he didn't have all night.. the place was near empty hence I could hear!!. Billy the owner used to trade under the name Monroe's which went bust owing £150,000.. then another limited company appears with Billy: 'Taquitos Bar And Grill Limited' which is in insolvency to the tune of another £65,000. How do these people get away with running up these debts and walking away simply to re-name the bar and carry on as if nothing had happened? He may do better if he practised better customer service but I doubt it would have that much effect. The place is dirty, dark and unwelcoming and I get the impression unless you've booked a party hence spending a lot of money, Billy really isn't interested.. By the way, the food was ok but you can't go wrong with Costco burgers can you..? I've also noticed Billy now only opens a few days a week in the evenings so my guess is Smokin' Billys is going to get 'smoked' soon too, just like the two previous incarnations. There are far better venues in town - steer clear.
