This place is a hidden jem. We did think we'd made a mistake when we got there, but we took a little walk round the corner and through a gap and there before us was an amazing beach. We didn't find the toilets, but did see signpost for them. No shops, no arcades and free parking just a beautiful beach. Lots of dog walkers and families enjoying the sand.
The beach is beautiful, amazing sand. Came across this during our Cleveland Way walk.....just stunning.
What a great little place this is away from the madding crowd a small village with a lovely safe sandy beech for the kids to play and some of the cleanest toilets around.
Beautiful beach, unspoilt and sandy. Free parking available and lovely walk up the cliff to the right with breath taking views. At the low tide you can walk toward Hummersea beach. Many fantastic rock formations and rock pools. To the left there is most wonderful unspoilt sandy beach with wild birds nesting on the cliffs. This is my favourite beach around. A little bit of shame there is no cafe around but when you take a flask with a hot tea it is just perfect. Absolutely superb view from the cliffs. The beach is stunning during the tide in and out. Really pretty and worth a visit. A lot of dog walkers too. Free parking by the beach
Wonderful long beach, shaded from heavy winds, pier to one end. Not as busy as other more popular beaches as not well known. Car parking close by and public toilets in village. Only one small convenience store though.
So much better beach than round the corner at Saltburn. Free parking and toilets nearby next to the white bridge over the river. Make sure you walk past the breakwater on the left, theres a gap in the ramp up the cliff to reveal a fantastic, sand dune backed, sandy beach, especially at low tide
Perfect place for a stroll, lovely sandy beach, dogs love it.
A hidden gem on the North East coast that is well worth a visit. Former fishing village with steep banks both in and out between Carling How and Loftus. Splendid pier and Coastal Path also passes through.
The wife originally booked at Markes by sea but at the last min the owners said there was a problem with the plumbing but offered an apartment in Skinningrove. After visiting Markes they did us a favour because Skiningrove was closer to the beach and our Dog loved her holiday by the beach.
I love this beach. Its definitely more of a dog walking beach than an all day family beach due to the lack of facilities. But that's why I love it! It's never crowded. My daughter and I took a small bar b q one day and had a lovely time with our dogs. There is a nice sandy bit to walk on barefoot in the sea, and also a part to hunt for interesting shells. There are no arcades or shops or ice cream vans or toilets. But if you want a nice quiet, uncrowded dog walk or just a day on a quiet beach then this is the place to go.
