The views here are amazing , parking can be a problem on a busy day , but definitely worth a visit when out that way ,
Great little spot for a nosey around an interesting ruin, parking at the front available but limited and right beside a coffee spot. Picnic area about a 10 minutes walk away with amenities too.
Lovely little castle ruin. Takes a minute to walk around and is very near the edge of the Lough.
The Castle was glourious beautiful sunshine people were 2 metres apart out on grass lawn very merry atmosphere
27 Feb 2022 The castle is free to inspect and is at the end of a causeway on Sketrick lsland in Strangford Lough. A lovely coffee shop called Little Eddys is 50 metres away well wort the visit open 7 days per week from 9.30am. Also Daft Eddys gourmet restaurant adjacent open from midday. Daft Eddy was a smuggler in the 17th century
Lovely spot great views
We went on an Spring afternoon the scenery was beautiful. It was like a summers day. Stopped at Daft Eddy's had a coffee and my daughter had a a brioche nap with sausage and hash brown very impressed. Lovely walk round to Strangford Sailing Club.
Beautiful spot on Sketrick Island.cant drive around the island as the roads are private . Not much to the castle itself but it's situated in the beautiful white rock bay which is worth a visit. Beautiful area
Lovely wee spot to go when the weather is nice. You can walk up the fields and get a great view of the lough. Looks to be a great spot for some water sports/activities. Seen a few SUP's and jetskis out the last time we where here.
I wouldn't go too far our if my way to see it, but if you're passing it's well worth a look. It's in a beautiful setting on Sketrick Island, and is a reasonably well preserved Castle. There's no admission fee and parking is ample and free. It's also eight beside the Island Coffee Shop and Daft eddies, asking it great for a lunch, coffee or dinner stop.
