Superb location overlooking Lossie golf course. Stopped in for a quick pint, very friendly location with a cozy back room facing the sea.

Skerry Brae was, overall, a delight. The staff were all courteous and attentive even while wearing multiple hats. For example, when we arrived, there was no one at the reception desk, but within a minute someone was rushing out from the bar to assist us. Perhaps this means it might get too hectic and service would have declined if they had been busier; I can only speculate. They were not too busy during our stay, and the service at reception, the bar, and at the breakfast table, was fine. The room was clean enough, and had a very pleasant ocean view overlooking a few golf fairways which made for good people- (and critter-) watching. It was a room I actually enjoyed sitting in. There were, however, some mold issues in the bathroom along the ceiling line. Also, nearly every window was spattered with bird excrement, in our room and also in the lounge/bar. Perhaps this adds to the rustic charm. Perhaps not. The carpets and furniture in the room were all dilapidated and dated, and the locks on the room doors were flimsy and not reinforced by chain or deadbolt. The twin beds were hard and lumpy, although the larger bed was soft and had a memory foam mattress. It is clear they need to hire a window washer, upgrade the bathroom fans, scrub and put on a coat of mold-resistant bathroom paint every year, and work toward replacing some of the furniture and carpeting over time. However, I loved the vibe here and would absolutely book Skerry Brae again in spite of its shortcomings.
