Skanda Vale

Story

Skanda Vale is a Hindu and Multi Faith ashram and monastery founded by Guru Sri Subramanium in Carmarthenshire, south-west Wales. The ashram houses 3 temples one each dedicated to lord Subramanium, Divine Mother and lord Vishnu.Skanda Vale is located in the valleys of West Wales, about 5mi from the town of Carmarthen, on the way to Lampeter, the nearest village is Llanpumsaint. The road to the temple is very narrow (last 4 miles/6 km), allowing just one vehicle to pass at a time. There are three temples: The Murugan Temple, The Maha Shakti Temple, and the Ranganatha Temple. There are 6 Pujas performed in each of the temples everyday : 5:00 - Murugan Temple 6:30 - Maha Shakti Temple 9:30 - Ranganatha Temple 13:30 - Murugan Temple 18:00 - Maha Shakti Temple 21:00 - Murugan TempleBetween 17:30 and 20:00 on Saturday 1 March a beautiful murthi of Maha Saraswati was stolen from The Sri Ranganatha Temple at Skanda Vale. The absence was first noticed at around 21:00.A variety of animals are kept on the grounds of the temple including an elephant. In April 2007, there was controversy when the sacred bullock, Shambo, tested positive for bovine TB, and the government ruled that he must be destroyed. An international campaign was mounted to save him. On 16 July 2007, the High Court in Cardiff quashed the ruling made by the National Assembly for Wales, and that it had not in its decision to slaughter Shambo: "given the serious infringement of the community's rights under Article Nine of the European Convention on Human Rights that slaughter would involve.". However, after 23 July 2007 Shambo again faced execution, after the Court of Appeal ruled that he should be slaughtered. Shambo was euthanized on 26 July 2007, via a lethal injection. Welsh authorities have since reported that signs of TB were present upon postmortem examination.

A wonderful spiritual space tucked away in the remote countryside of Llanpumsaint. We were able to make our pilgrimage up from London which is around. 5.5hrs drive and experience all temples, pujas in the natural elements and an enlightening space away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The roads leaving up to Skanda Vale can be very narrow so do take care if driving by car. Accommodation, temple services and hospice/cafe are also available. We came with a tour group, so make sure you maximise your time here. Skanda Vale along with all pilgrims and community members is a highly energised place and there is often a lot of walking along steep inclines and loose road surface.
We visited to this place in early September and it's a beautiful temple for you to visit and also you enjoy the nature. Temple is opened at specific time so you need to plan your drive...otherwise you need to wait for longer period. They do provide lunch and dinner prasadam which will be very good and tasty. They also many accomodations but prior booking is compulsory. Even for darshan you need to book. They have many temples Ganesha,Ari Ranganatha, Kali,Guru Samadhi and Murugan. Every temple have some timing to visit so plan accordingly . Self drive is recommended as the temple is outside the city.
A wonderful temple located in the lovely hills of Carmarthen at Llanpumsaint. Completely maintained by volunteers and dedicated priests who perform pooja with immense devotion while maintaining close to nature it’s serenity and purity. Away from the hustle and bustle of a busy world, you will experience absolute peace and tranquillity at the heart of Mother Nature. Ample parking space at the temple and food prashadh offered to attendees after the pooja. Narrow roads lead to temple, so driving vehicle with caution is advised.
Free parking. The very last 1.5 mile stretch is a narrow road with passing points and can have one car at a time. I do have a fairly big car. Book a slot online so it's easier to attend any puja
Visiting this divine place second time and planned to stay for 2 days as skanda hafan which is managed by skanda vale. Blessed to do seva whole day and attended ranganathan pooja, murugan pooja and maha shakti pooja. It was such a holy and sacred experience. People do not know much about this temple. Please do visit once to experience an incredible feel.
Massive disappointment after travelling for 6 hours. Most of the Temple surroundings are not well maintained and no Hindu tradition is being followed. Temple priest turn off the Aarti without presenting it to devotees Priests touching the deity with shoes onn No food in restaurants nor prasadam In terms of scenery, there are lot other good place which can be explored in South wales
No words to say. A beautiful location. Almost no network peaceful. Spend good time with nature. Keep calm and prey to god. Don’t miss Kalima Pooja evening. Roads are congested. So drive carefully.
An extremely peaceful and divine place. If you are in search of peace and want to connect to mother nature then this is the place to be. Leave the material world behind you when you come here otherwise you will never experience the mothers love. A lot of people treat this place like a picnic spot or a holiday destination, please don't do that. Respect the hard work that the swamis are putting in to make this place a beautiful, simple yet highly powerful source of spiritual experience. Although inclined towards hindu way of worship this place does not have or promote any particular religion and is open to anyone who is in search of eternal peace and connecting to godhead. Do visit this one for sure to experience the divinity that is present all around us in simplest form of life....
Beautiful place, very peaceful, temple is lovely, loads of pets including Swans, ducks, peacock, donkey, elephant etc. Leave your phones in cars and enjoy peace, to reach there is very narrow road so be careful while driving, they have free hospic who want to spend last time in tranquility. Abhishek and prayer was mesmerising. What an amazing experience.
A very scenic and pious place to destress and meditate. Timing is the key to everything here. Would recommend noting the puja timings so that the travel and the time spent there is efficient. The Ranganatha shrine is beautiful with a nice waterfall as a backdrop. The walk to the Sakthi shrine is lovely and through a wooded area. A big kudos to the volunteers there. They make it feel special.
