I wish I could give this school a zero out of five on how their performance went but unfortunately one was the lowest I could go. 'Bullying will not be tolerated' they say and yet still do NOTHING about bullies, not just my daughter but many other teenagers, they really think 'talking' to bullies will actually help. The chances out of this aren't even one percent, bullies tend to gang up on their targets with threats, this always makes the victim terrified. I understand bullies have their own problems but I don't understand why you can't find the time to show these disgusting tormenters how bullying ACTUALLY impacts on somebody, you find excuses and nit pick little details about students that rarely anybody notices. My daughter told me she got dress coded, shouted at and lost an achievement point just for the 'wrong colour' skirt, why shout at a student for wearing the wrong skirt color when there are LITERAL bullies telling people to do something they don't want to do, threatening them and spreading rumours just to push insecurity onto them. Teachers just honesty don't care about bullies, talking does not do anything to stop bullying, if you don't tolerate bullying then prove it to me by calling the bullies parents in. Telling them how disappointing it is for a child to do something so hurtful to another child. You take the absolute mickey out of teenagers wearing makeup, even natural makeup, wrong colour skirt and yet you still have a blind eye in bullying. I have to ask what is wrong with you people? Children hate school but secondary school is a whole new experience, they're excited yet also nervous, when they step foot into this school in particular you'll soon watch as their self esteem gradually lowers until they have nothing left to give you but pain. I honestly hope this school shuts down, you say you have high expectations, high standards and yet you still can't live up to that. You force these teenagers into hardwork and ignore the fact that they're clearly struggling, this school eats them alive. One tip please tell your children to never share personal information with this school, it's every school actually but this one in particular is messed up. Yes your children will build a sustainable friendship with staff here but it gets to the point where the staff know too much information that could lead to them threatening a child. My daughter once told me a boy wasn't aloud video games but he found a way to play and he was talking about it with his friend when a teacher who had no business in their conversation rudely interrupted and threatened him that if he plays video games again she'll tell his mum. He got very upset but his punishments are a bit extreme, please don't build friendships with staff as that'll only lead them to use that against you in the future. They nit pick little details and twist your words so it looks like your the villain, they manipulate you, my daughter had a panic attack at school because her head teacher Mrs. Thompson kept shouting at her, the reason is because my daughter wanted to show her friend how to draw fake scars. I know what you're thinking, she shouldn't be drawing on her arm but what she told me needs to be discussed, she told her form teacher and Mrs. Thompson that it's fake and yet they still report her. Can you actually believe this bull crap!? The fact that they actually tried to manipulate my daughter and twist her words is insane, I was speechles when my daughter told me that they had made a whole other story with her words. This school is depressing, my daughter hates it and she comes home everyday barely just surviving, the stupid thing is with this horrible school is that they forced my daughter to remove her eyeliner and yet ignore all the other girls with bold makeup. Staff are extremely rude to girls who have a hijab, covering half their face, calling them terrorists and give them detention. They inappropriately touch kids, Mrs.Thompson touched my daughters chest, they assault kids by dragging them by their chest & stomach. Ms.Sweetman bullies my daughter.
Honestly such an amazing school the environment is just perfect lovely helpful staff
Bullying will not be tolerated. Biggest lie I have ever heard, I'm glad I left that horrible school years ago. Mostly I had the bullies mostly Asian students but they were favoured by the teachers and if you said anything they played the race card so that's how the Asian students got away with the bullying. The biggest bullies of them all were the staff especially that Mrs hex who went round frightening the younger girls especially me who couldn't stand up for themselves she was a nasty piece of work glad I'm not there anymore. If I have kids I won't be sending them to this horrid school that for sure.
Best school ever all the ppl leaving bad reviews are from blessed trinity
Even though it's been years since I left Sir John Thursby, I feel like I need to share my experience. Most staff played favouritism. My year was full of bullies. Even though some staff members knew that I was a victim of bullying, they chose not to take action. Come on I was given a medal of being the most annoying at the end for year 11. I wish I could re due my time at high school and stand up for myself because no one else would. Here is a message to those that get bullied, stand up and defend yourselves. Don't let the bullies win. The staff don't take severe act nor do the the bullies stop. A few staff members were amazing and understanding. If you have anyone that's by your side, tell to them cause sometimes bullies take it too far and you need an adult at times. I was bullied for 5 years at this school and I honestly hated my years at high school. It affected my studying and grades. Teachers need to be supporting and understanding and don't turn a blind eye to those that need help!!. I'm a stronger person now but I do wish I had the help I needed back then.
