Lovely walk up to the top. There were a few paths to choose from. We decided to walk up the steep bit, but there looked to be a steadier stoned path all the way up. Stunning views from the top, definitely recommendVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Incredible views from the Sir John Barrow monument. Can see the Welsh mountains, Blackpool tower to the south and Scafell Pike to the North. Well worth the slight trek to the top.
Great little walk up from Ulverston. A few roads around Ford Park where you can park a car. The walk goes up the lanes and paths to the left of the monument and becomes open ground. The monument will be on your left and stony others easy to follow. Coming down look for the stony and tarmac paths to the front towards the sea, these provide an easy descent with great views out to the estuary and sea. Two great cafés enroute, the orangery early and the garden centre in Ford Park. But be careful lots of dog poo around......
Great views out over estuary and central lake district fells from the top. Sheepish climb for unfit like me at the moment, but tarmac most of the way. And plenty of views to enjoy on stops to catch breath! :Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Great views from the top. It's worth the walk. It can get very slippery near the top when the concrete path ends. There are plenty of benches on the way up for those, like me, who aren't as fit as they could be.
Great walk, didn't take long to get up to the top. Views are amazingVisited onWeekday
We had a lovely walk up to the lighthouse today with amazing blue skies! When we got to the top we were the only ones there, we got to pick the best bench have some snacks then finish our circular walk back to Ford Park. We went up a steep section with steps but came back down a circular walk into ulverston which dropped us back into Ford Park. Highly recommend!
It's a bit of a climb but worth it when you reach the top. Much better advised to go on a clear day as the view so much better. Access to the tower was closed but I believe it's open at weekends.
Sir John Barrow Monument was, great little walk with the kids and my partner, it wasn't too far so little legs managed! It was a nice circular route from town, up paths and past many benches for a breather! Up to the top and back down through back streets. Amazing views from the top, it was very windy and overcast so couldn't see as far as Blackpool unfortunately. Really enjoyed the walk, shorer than we usually do but don't normally manage to get the kids out walking with us! Looks like you could extend in either direction too!
A bit of a puff to get to the top but worth it on a clear day. Unfortunately it wasn't open when I went so could not go inside.
