We ordered a cake for my partner's mum's 60th birthday. We asked for knitting and sewing details to be the main decoration, at it is one of the things she loves. The result was amazing, so much it was heartbreaking to eat the cake and see to the lovely decoration disappearing progressively :
Simple cakes are fantastic. I rang with an last minute request for a wedding cake for just under 3 weeks time. Judith confirmed she would be able to do and upon collection the cake was perfect. Thank you for saving us!
The great thing about Simply Cakes is the unapologetic element of surprise. I had a very specific request, which was confirmed by the lady I spoke to, 3D style icing Oak tree specifically referencing the "my little pony" 3D cake in the shop with a red dragon wrapped around the tree. To my surprise I received a cake which had a flat tree, not discernible as any particular type, with a flat dragon on it. I had also requested a coffee flavour and had to laugh when it didn't taste of coffee at all. The cake was ok, but it wasn't what had been agreed and frankly, it wasn't worth the money. I politely discussed what I had requested versus what been made, with the lady in the shop. There was no apology, she simply suggested it wouldn't be possible to do those things, so they couldn't have been confirmed. Clearly, I wouldn't be asking for them, if they hadn't been confirmed! Luckily the final cake was well received but next time, I think I'll shop elsewhere.
Great little shop, really handy for sugarcraft supplies, and they also hire out specialist cake tins at very reasonable rates. One point though, the times displayed on Google are incorrect. They are open 9.30am-4.30pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9.30am to 3pm on Saturday and are closed Tuesday and Sunday.
I got a Teletubbies cake for my daughter first birthday & it was everything I asked for & more.. I have absolutely nothing to fault.. I will definitely be going back & reccommeing a friend or 2
