Normally enjoy Simmons and have no complaints however today my partner came back home with 2 doorstep sandwiches and the girl who made them Skye might aswell of done it blindfolded. Surely making a sandwich you don’t need training or showing but clearly this young girl does. £13 for 2 sandwiches is expensive at the end of the day and to have it fall apart and put more filling into it at home is just laughable. You can see from the picture one slice is pretty much thin as paper and the other is huge. If I wanted to eat mainly bread I would of just got a loaf of it. Really disappointed.
I love this shop their cakes are awesome, and nice range of sandwich fillings. Staff are always helpful, and the lovely girl who served me my 3 different cakes today yes all for me!, was so lovely. Highly recommended. P.s I think prices are reasonable.. £30 for; 2x sausage sandwiches 1x cheese & pickle sandwich 2x box 9 mini cupcakes 1x oreo cake slice 1x cherry pie slice 1x rainbow cake slice 1x almond cherry slice Slices are more like slabs of cake!! 2x drinks
Service is appalling ~If you're asian or black think twice abiut using this branch. Since, last week we have collected 'surprise bags' - from this branch. Last Sunday, when I entered the branch, the two girls inside stopped what they were doing and exchanged looks with each other. I don't know if it was my brown skin or my headscarf, but they were triggered by my presence. When I asked them for a surprise bag, they gave me something that wasn't even half full. I asked whether the contents had meat, after checking the bag the girl said no. After, I walked out, I noticed the lady after me had a bag that was brimming full of food. This was strange for me to see, as when my sister collects food from Simmonds in Welwyn garden City, her bag is brimming with food. So, we gave the Cuffley branch the benefit of the doubt and tried again last night. This time we ordered 2 bags. On arriving, the gentleman before me picked up a bag brimming with food. And, unfortunately yet again we were handed 2 bags meagre in food. The girl was again stiffly polite. On reviewing the contents at home, the first bag contained a cheese croissant, a chocolate croissant, slice of pumpkin pie, a loaf of bread, a hot cross bun and an iced bun. The second bag contained 3 things a loaf of bread, a donut and another slice of pumpkin pie.
I love this bakery so much. Nothing is too much trouble and they are so friendly. The food is all amazing - best cherry pie I've ever had the the New York deli sandwich is my favourite prepared sandwich ever. I asked if they could make one in sourdough rather than the focaccia it is usually in, and they were happy to oblige. Amazing.
The bread was very good but portion control needs some serious attention, my roll was seriously under filled in comparison to others. I raised this at the time & was told that individual was putting too much in.
Always go to Simmons when back in Herts the best bakery ever Food: 5/5
Awful, dry sausage tough like leather, wasted £16 egg had shell in it, tea was just hot water hardly any milk won't go againFood: 1/5
Simmons is one of my favourite bakeries. I was so pleased when i heard they were opening in Cuffley Village. At this time of year they make the best mince pies, the pastry is like a thick shortbread and they are filled to the top. The seeded sourdough bread is a staple for me. Good range of sandwich fillings and takeaway coffee is good usual array of cakes. Do try them.
First fell in love with Simmons in Hereford when grabbing a latte and raspberry custard Danish for breakfast on the way to fishing. The Danish was mouthwatering delicious. Now that Simmons has opened in Cheshunt, I've been able to try some of their other sweet and savoury options as well as sandwiches. Always a happy customer.
The hot food a must during winter counter is always well stocked with bacon, sausages and occasionally hash browns if early enough as are the cold fillings for takeaway snacks. The selection of cakes is impressive also. The usual loaves are readily available. My only gripe is that it is a bit on the pricey side.
