This place is mega huge. So much to see and so many walks to go on around the estate. Very dog friendly and we happen to go on a special doggy day. Dogs allows all around the estate except the mansion. It's a national trust place. Definitely going back again as I feel it needs a few visits to truly see the whole estate. The gardens and the wall garden are beautiful. Will be interesting to see all the flowers in different seasons. There is so much land kids would have a field day at the estate. There is a farm cafe where dogs are allowed just before you get to the mansion but also a cafe next to the mansion although seating is limited and no dogs allowed at this cafe. They don't hand out maps so worth taking a photo at the entrance. They have a special map for dogs too. Have attached in my photos below
Had I really nice day at a beautiful national trust estate. Massive grounds. Great for walks and ambling around. Lots of areas to explore. The main mansion was well maintained and interesting exhibits. They have thought of kids, with cuddly toys and fidget toys to keep little ones busy as you wander around the mansion. Great team of very helpful and informative volunteers. Will be back to explore more, as the grounds so vast.
Had a great day out here. Set in beautifully countryside. Great for walkers everywhere was on level ground.so ideal for disabled people.there are toilet facilities a cafe there is a small play area for the young children. I never hot yo go in the house i was to busy enjoying the walk I would recomend a visit .I will most definitely be going back again
Nice day out at a National Trust Property we haven't been to for a while. We arrived and had rhubarb scone with jam and cream, and Victoria sponge at home farm cafe sitting outside in the courtyard. Wandered to Mansion via Tower of the Winds. Had a look around the servants area which was interesting and then the interior of the house itself. I then did a bit of sketching in the formal gardens at the back of the house and we then wandered along to Essex Bridge and went over it into the village for pub lunch. We wandered back to car stopping off at walled garden which is coming along nicely in its development.
Absolutely beautiful, amazing walk with the dog! Open countryside and parkland one side with Hadrian's arch at the top of the hill! Walk down and around through the arboretum visited in winter but I imagine it'll be stunning in spring and autumn , then through the oriental style garden with a little bridge, before walking infront of the the house itself. This then brings you back around to the car park - 3 miles I think. Perfect!
Superb few hours spent here walking, enjoying the history and relaxing in the cafe. Great service from all and dog friendly. Love vegan pasties at National Trust properties and perfectly cooked. Decent coffee too!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
This is a great place to visit. Plenty to see inside the mansion and really interesting. There is also the fantastic gardens, farm and walled gardens to explore anytime of the year. There is a large estate and several suggested walks. Although when we visited Oct 2023 there were some parts of the garden and a larger part of the estate were flooded from the river Trent As you would expect with National Trust, there is a car park, toilets and cafe.
Shugborough was so nice, interesting and large that I regret we couldn't give more time to it than we did, we visited as a stopover in a longer journey. Still, we did have enough time to visit most of the site and it was amazing. Having recently read 'The Wager' it was fun to visit a site and see objects associated with Anson's voyage. The staff at Shugborough were also very good which is often the most inconsistent element of visiting NT places.
A fantastic estate, family and dog friendly. Plenty to see inside and outside. The usual NT facilities with plenty of parking. A great day out.
Such lovely, amazing, welcoming staff to begin with! The grounds are beautiful & exceptionally well kept. The mansion is a must-see. And don't forget the little piggies by the café, they were sooooo cute.Visited onWeekday
