Absolutely beautiful countryside with plenty to see. Walks are well sign posted. The cafe is a welcome resting place with good staff, enjoyable food & clean facilities. Car park when we went was ample but I would imagine in the Spring and Summer spaces will go quickly. £5 all day for parking very reasonable these days. A very enjoyable days walking.
It's truly beautiful here, one of my favourite places to walk. The scenery is beautiful, from the waterfall to the reservoir. The cafe is spacious and does great cakes, food, drinks and ice cream. I've been here several times and would highly recommend visiting.
Great walks here and a very scenic spout waterfall walk. The waterfall walk is rocky so not accessible for all and the main footpaths walk through Fords and streams so make sure to bring good and ideally waterproof footwear. The carpark is pretty large and it pay and display and free for National trust members. There is also a National trust coffee shop with great coffee and cakes to either sit in or take away.
Visited on my Shropshire holiday in 2020 summer end. I already visited one attraction that day and thought - naive me - that in the afternoon I can have a nice lonely quiet walk here to finish my day. OMG! Even to get there is queue by cars to the kiosk, then when they let us in, to find a parking place is a nightmare! Every spot is occupied, if not by car but by bicycle, motorcycle, tent, blanket or just sit or lye there. Thousands of people around with or without kids, with or without dogs, all of them wants to walk, picnicking, have refreshments, have sunbathe, have a good time. I am very much introvert and I highly appreciate what we call space and private sphere, so from the very beginning to the short end I felt very uncomfortable. Also, I was already tired, so I was not able to walk too high or too far, but I started a moderate path. I spent there about 90 minutes or 2 hours altogether, and I saw, that it is a tourist attraction where we can be alone only if we spend a night in a tent on the top of the hill. Beautiful place by the way, with many paths, hard and moderate, but definitely not easy at all. I accept, that people want to enjoy this place and themselves, so it is crowded enough. Because I like to enjoy my day out further from crowd, it was not my style, and I do not wish to go back. I have seen ice-cream and drink kiosks, some benches for picnic, but the best is to prepare ourselves with enough water. Also, because there are paths to the hill, there is no shade if we start to walk, either on a rainy or a sunny day, so better to think ahead. Hiking boots and poles are highly recommended.
This is a great place to get some fresh air and exercise, but the ground is very uneven so wear some sensible shoes if you are going to walk up the valley. Also a great place for picnics by the side of the stream. The cafe is well stocked and has a great selection of ice creams. The toilets are not very pleasant smelling though!
From the youngest to the oldest; the casual and more serious walkers, one will find something here at Long Mynd. On the Queen's Jubilee holiday, the weather was dry, with bursts of glorious sunshine. We enjoyed the hilly views, the children the streams, and the resident sheep made the hills very close and accessible indeed. The varied paths showed different facets of the hills, the faces of brown and green, rugged and smooth. You feel like you can touch the clouds but not quite. Highly recommended.
Beautiful little find. £5 entry fee for parking only take contactless payment no cash. Lovely valleys with the sheep and baby lambs wondering freely about the valleys. The scenery is great when you climb further up the valleys. The waterfall was a beautiful scene. Great trekking for all. Quite a few school trips were present on the day. Spent about 3-4 hours here. There is a public toilet and cafe on site, serving cakes, crisps, ice lollies, hot drinks etc. Would definitely recommend a visit and will be returning back. Appropriate footwear recommended if climbing the limestone rocks and steep valleys.
Went there for the first outing of the new year. Absolutely loved it. Plenty parking space, pay and display or pay using the app. Currently £5 all day. Machines don't accept card payments though. Small cafe there for food and drinks. A little pricey I felt, for what it is, £5 for a bacon bap/roll? Anyway...the pristine hills make up for it. The ascent up the valley can be quite challenging in places so bring your walking legs! Well signposted and pretty much litter free all along the way. You're rewarded with fantastic views over the Shropshire hills, absolutely beautiful!
Amazing, for the second time. Beginner to intermediate level. If you go hiking it can be a bit up and down. Also if anyone goes, wear proper boots as it can be quite rugged and slippery sometimes. But if you have great weather and a couple of good friends, it can be an amazing day!Public restrooms: YesOff-leash dog area: YesPicnic tables: Yes
We visited here for the first time today. We was lucky with the weather. But rain or shine it's an absolutely beautiful place to visit. We loved seeing the wild sheep, pity some people pay no attention to the signs about it being lambing season and to keep your dog's on leads. We saw a few dog's chasing and scaring the sheep . Our children really enjoyed dipping there feet in the stream. We climbed a steep hill and walked a narrow path with stunning views but a scary drop, I don't know how the sheep do it. We sat and had a picnic within this beautiful peaceful setting. We will definitely be back. Recommend to anyone who enjoys the beauty of natural area's, and if you enjoy walking.
