Large collection over a very long period. Many excellent galleries, especially geological, roman and medieval in stunning rooms.. First class cafe and toilets
First visit to the town and headed to the Museum and Art Gallery. It's in an old building with a contemporary makeover. We started off in the Roman exhibition which brings exhibits to life with excellent info panels. We ended up in the cafe for a light lunch. We'll certainly be back to see more.
Terrific museum.nFree to enter and all displays are presented with thought and easy to understand.nTerrific way to spend a couple hours exploring history.
First time visit to Shrewsbury and Art Gallery on a Sunday. Free entry, no wait.nnFirst museum collection was Roman. Located on the ground floor with reference to Wroxeter Roman City, the nearby historical Roman landmark which is run by English Heritage.nnMuseum continues on the first floor. Plenty of local history relating to Shropshire.nnGood sized museum, take an hour to walk around. Museum shop on the ground floor.
This was quite a large local history museum spread over multiple floors with lots of information about the local area, its history and local celebrity Charles Darwin.
