My first full-time job was cleaning for two months at Shop Direct. It's a very special memory for me because it was my first full-time job. Apart from the work, I consider it special because for the first time in ten years I was around people my own age. It was a completely new experience for me. There was a lot of work and it was a lot of fun. I'd go back if I could.
I work only 5 weeks for Christmas work. Staff are horrible and have no respect any of us. Blaming people for something which haven’t done. Pay is fair but it not a place suitable for a career. You will face bulling, racism, disrespect and may others. I am disability by deafness. They do bully disabled people for fun. They even make people work hard and treated like slaves. I will never work there again. This place needed new staffs or shut down for good.
If your going to do an interview and recruit the person at least teach the person how to do the tasks properly and at least give them time to practice. I did an interview and they tell me I am unsuccessful without any reason. My colleagues who did the interview got their results however I did not get my results so I don't know what I did wrong. It quite frustrates me how people who don't know how to speak English get the job and I don't even though I have warehouse experience before and I am qualified in the English language. They even had the cheek to say in the interview if you fail you cannot apply within 6 months. I mean the place is closing down in 12 months so what kind of muppet do you think I am.
Keep you waiting on deliveries. Put you on a bay then they hide the guy on the desk for the goods in was very rude when asked if I would be unloaded soon. Didn't care attitude with his feet up and very abusive
Gud place to work as staff are gud n they listen to you if you have anything to say. I've only been there a jus over a week n unfortunately I've come down with flu but they understand
Sending orders to Shop direct since 2014, now they have changed their delivery requirements, even if we have 1 unit that needs to be in a separate box which is like we are wasting a carton.. should change this rule..
work for shop direct for 5 years which l was full time staff l was off on the sick for a year was ask to come in ask to start back to work on the day but had a phone call just before going in to the meeting my grandmother had pass away on the same day so my head was all over l didnt know want to say so l was finish on the day after 5 years of working for shop direct if can finish someone after this time dont had any feeling for other people
Such a shame the 3 mills are earmarked to be demolished. Once played a big part in the local history, be nothing left soon.
Shop direct is one of the few warehouse out there that still have good environment for staff to work. I will be very gutted when they gonna shut it down in 2020
Staff is treated exceptionally well and it is a nice working environment and a straight forward job
