This is the worst Indian food we’ve eaten. Not sure if they were worried about getting it out quick because of the previous bad reviews. We ordered £120 worth of food and told it would be 1.5hrs which we were fine with as long as it was actually fresh. The food turned up in about half hour but was disgusting. ONE OF THE POTS OF MINT YOGURT SAUCE HAD MOULD GROWING AND SMELT RANCID ! The popadoms were stale and the naan breads were doughy and stale too. Everything just seemed pre-made ready to go to avoid long waits. Basic hygiene is for any restaurant to check/date their food. Go elsewhere if you better food for a better price. Way overpriced and such poor quality.
Been 3 times this year and twice last week , Monday for my late brothers birthday meal, 20 of us and on Thursday for my birthday, 9 of us. All excellent quality food and service. Portions are tasty, big and well presented. Friendly staff, plenty of space and comfy chairs. Going again this week . Can't get enough of it. Keep up the good work .
This is a lovely friendly place to eat! There were 28+ in our party and although it was a Friday night we were able to order of the buffet menu. The staff were very attentive, there was a little confusion of some of the dishes that arrived but no complaints about the taste and quality of the meal. Definitely the place to eat in Bexhill.
One of my favourite places to visit over the last 15 years. I now live in Australia and it is always on my list of places to visit when I come back. Food, atmosphere and service is always great when dining in. I have also spent Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve at the Shiplu in the past.Recommended dishesCheese Nan, Bombay Potatoes
Absolutely lovely restaurant. The food looked wonderful. Unfortunately I couldn't eat much of it as I'm vegetarian. They provided 3 different meat curries but no veggi one at the buffet. Just had bombay potatoes and rice instead. Staff are lovely though, and the decor is nice too.Food: 3/5
Very disappointing. This place used to be the best around and we often travelled from Eastbourne to eat here but now it is far from how it was. Staff disinterested, no atmosphere, food tasteless and overall really expensive. The evening verged on an episode of 'Faulty Towers' with a waiter dropping four pots of food in one of our laps and the fire alarms going off for what felt like an eternity. At the end of our meal we asked if we could take the left overs home and we were given pots to fill and clear away our selves! I half expected the waiter to ask us to wash up too!! Think we'll stay in Eastbourne in future....
Don't get delivery! I love the shiplu always have but one thing I have learnt is, unless you dine in, or collect your order, your food always arrives Lukewarm or near enough cold! I can only afford a Shiplu once every other month or quarterly now as money is getting tight, so I really look forward to ordering a curry. The last 2 times I have had delivery after waiting an hour, it has arrived lukewarm or nearly cold! Bearing in mind I only live less than 500 meters away you would think it would be hot. Really disappointing as it cost me over £30. The food always taste amazing and I will be dining in next time or collecting myself but you guy really need to invest in some form or heat insulation whilst transporting your take outs to your customers. If your food was hot on arrival I would give you 5 stars all the way.
Amazing food and the staff were so helpful too! We ate here welhen we visited from London for our wedding anniversary. This place offers a relaxed atmosphere as well as exceptional food. Will visit again if I'm ever visiting Hastings!
A really enjoyable restaurant, welcoming and friendly atmosphere and staff, generous portion sizes, tasty food, highly recommended!
