I'm an American traveling with a tour group. Selected this fine restaurant because it was close to my hotel. A very fortunate choice! Our server Sid was amazing, made great suggestions and was on top of our needs 100%. The food was... gorgeous! Amazing layers of flavors perfectly prepared. Yep. Eat here!
I'm really disappointed, my main dish was chicken madras and it was absolutely flooded and swimming in oil, it had even spilled out into the bag. I've never seen such a vast amount of oil on an Indian dish before. The food was tasty but that was a real let down and really off putting. Collection time was quick and staff were friendly on collection.
Absolutely loved the food and hospitality. Started with papadums and chutney platter , must confess I am not a huge fan of papadums served in Asian restaurants in UK as they are not of my North Indian liking but the ones served here reminded me of home and specially the coriander mint chutney. After this we ordered vegetarian and non vegetarian platters for starters . Veg one had onion bhaji and mushrooms. Non veg one had chicken tikka, kabab and lamb chops. Loved each bit of it. For main course we ordered chicken fry , lamb karahi and paneer butter masala with Shazam special garlic naans. Everything was super delicious and spot on to my taste expectations . It is now my officially my go to restaurant whenever I visit Edinburgh.
Great Indian cuisine. Halal food. Really enjoyed the choice of curries and mixed grill.
Good venue and varied menu. Central location at normal prices. Medium curries are tasty all-rounders, but if you want spice be ambitious when ordering! Faultless service, would definitely recommend!
Every time I've eaten here about 4 times over a decade I enjoyed the food. Big, fresh naan bread, tasty dishes. Food is great, ambience is lacking a bit. Service friendly and super quick but only three tables were occupied at the time.
We visited Shezan on Saturday 3rd December - prior to the theatre. The reservation was made well in advance, for 17.45 - allowing us 1.5hrs to enjoy our meal. We arrived about 10 mins before our booking. The restaurant was extremely busy and noisy and we were told they were waiting for our table to clear and we would be seated shortly. We were happy to wait. We were eventually seated 18.25 - despite making it clear that we had theatre tickets. What was quite annoying was that people seemed to be coming in and getting seated almost straight away - I imagine because they were a bigger group and the table was free. We ordered our starter and main meal, which we ended up eating together due to the time issues. We did leave most of our meal as we just ran out of time. The restaurant was too noisy and chaotic and having been seated right near the door - where people were queuing to get seated and pick up food was not ideal. Staff were very rushed and it showed in the service. We didn't enjoy our experience despite the food that we managed to eat being very nice. The whole experience was just too stressful. The staff member did apologise, gave us a complimentary drink and discounted the bill. Which was appreciated. We were very disappointed as we were looking forward to visiting the restaurant for weeks.
I love Indian food and this is one of the best. My sisters first time trying Indian and she loved it as well. Staff were fantastic, will definitely return
My wife and I decided to have a birthday dinner in shezan, It was my first time having Indian food and it’s was so spicy and I liked it a lot. The staff were very friendly especially SID, he was helping us so much about food and drinks about the price of food. We were eating chicken tikka masala and chicken korma…,We were drinking lemon cordial and irn bru, Lovely place with so cool Indian music.
Extremely noisy, the worst ever chicken korma in the world is probably here. If you know Indian food, do not come here. It is not wheelchair accessible and evidently offers no accessibility for people with autism. Even if you ask for your dish to be fixed, you still get something needing flavour. Deeply disappointed with the environment. The guys serving the food look very committed but it is sad that they could not fix a dish. I challenge them to eat what they serve in order to improve the quality of the food.
