Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre & Country Park
"The Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre is the gateway to the Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. Among the hundreds of ancient oak trees - one of Europe's largest collections - is the iconic Major Oak, the UK's largest oak tree, estimated to be more than 1,000 years old. And, of course, it is also home to the legend of Robin Hood."

Fabulous woodland walk. A lot of activities scheduled, archery etc but the high winds meant they were cancelled The major oak is a wonder to see, worth the trip just to see it. Parking charges for even blue badge holders of £5.00Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Well worth a visit! Lots of accessible walks of various lengths, all colour coded for ease, with lots of fun and interesting facts to learn on each walk. A few different options for food and drink, all pretty reasonably priced, we had a lovely coffee latte and hot chocolate from major brew! Car parking is £5 for the day, with plenty of spaces
Great family day out in the forest of Robin Hood. Small cafe and shop and some lovely little shops in the craft centre opposite the entrance. My partner managed to negotiate most of the paths in her electric wheelchair, although they are a bit uneven in places it's a forest. Toilets on site and at the craft centre, both include a disabled toilet.
From the main road the signage to the main car park is clear. To the visitors centre, well you have to go find it. No signage at all. Ok, it's directly across the road from the parking, but nowhere does it say so and it is hidden 200m up the side road behind some trees. Absolute joke. Can't imagine what foreigners think of us.
Great day out walking in the forrest with some amazing views and a great day out. We had a go at axe throwing and archery around the Major Oak. The visitors centre was very nice with cafe and shop as you would expect and also a sweet shop and I've cream van there on the day we visited.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Days walk out was spoilt for us as parts of the footpaths blocked off, no access as there was a run on. Also our peaceful walk spoilt by 2 men shouting at each other as they walked around. Parking £5 for all day. No visitor hand held maps available. All pathways clearly signed though. Was lovely to see the great oak. Lovely to see it there still standing. Didn't feel any energy or magic from it. Would recommend a day visit.
t was simply inconceivable for me to journey all the way to Nottingham without making a stop at Sherwood Forest. The center offers a gift shop, café, and restroom facilities. Within the park, there is a playground for children and three different hiking trails to explore. Opting for the briefest hiking trail, we made our way to the awe-inspiring Giant Oak. Although we were unable to climb the oak due to its age and immense size, the sheer magnificence of the tree was a sight to behold. The entire forest was teeming with ancient trees, making it a fascinating and enjoyable hiking destination.
We went for a walk here with the dog, there's lots of different routes you can take beautiful place! There was a kestrel on top of the visitor centre, we walked 11kVisited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
My son and I decided to visit sherwood this morn, for a quick stretch of our legs. We have not been here for some time, so it was a treat to go. Things have changed so much since my last visit, I'm embarrassed to say it's been that long! The first noticeable event was the carpark, which initially looked like an overgrown grassland, but efforts made for hard standing parking areas. The parking meters are plenty, with various options to pay. Unfortunately, the meter I used was misted up and not easily ledgeable, but I got there in the end. We decided to walk to major oak first. We saw a sign saying major Oak half mile this way....ten minutes later, we found another sign saying major Oak half mile away! Lol! Was expecting a third sign but found the oak instead. Visited the cafe, excellent staff there, friendly. Walked around the gift shop and went around others. As we came out of gift shop, across the way we're so more shops. Some very nice items in the shop. My son purchased a helmet from there. The lady was very helpful, offering to show him any of the items he wanted to look at. The items in the shop, the quality, amazing! Lovely few hours spent strolling around and pleased we had goid weather to boot!
Went with my 2 dogs, wife and 3 year old! You can park for £5 or if you are an RSPB member it is free. There are many different trails to walk and plenty of options for the children to do. There is ALWAYS something happening and it is amazing cheap day out!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
