Haven’t been to this once very busy and lovely  pub in 3/4 years due to a disappointing meal, but having read a number of positive reviews we thought we’d try it again. 7 of us went, and while most of the meals were nice enough   mine was fairly poor to be honest.nnWe were disappointed that we were unable to use the student discount. Which is advertised on the green king website.nnThe starters all came out and to give the team their dues they were absolutely fine and the drinks were all perfectly ok as well.nnThe cheese and bacon beef burger that I ordered came out and was nearly inedible when I tried to eat the underside was black It had shrunk down and was charcoaled on the outside edge. To be honest it looked thrown together and had the smallest bit of bacon on it. Having been for a meal at another pub from a rival chain the previous week where the prices are the same the quality and care taken was not comparable. The amount of fries seemed a bit cheap as well like everyone else’s had been cooked and I got the left overs.nnI did complain and to be fair to the guy from the kitchen he replaced my meal and put extra fries on to apologise. The second attempt was fine but you do only get a first attempt at a first impression.nnThe pub is in need of investment and maybe it was just a bad night but the bar staff seemed unhappy and the pub looked like it needs a really good clean, I’m glad I could wait to get home to go to the toilet as my partner told me how bad they were.nnOn exit the staff member from the restaurant came out of the rear of the pub smoking cannabis he did not smell of it when he came to get my meal to re do it however.nnNeedless to say it’ll probably be a long time before we try again. Hope you manage to get this once vibrant pub back on its feet.

We've not been here for a while, so the menu has changed.nThe food was delicious, it came out nice and hot.  The only issue we had is that they brought out our main courses whilst we were still eating our starter.nI told the waitress that we hadn't even asked for it yet, so she had to take it back to the kitchen.nI think it's always best to wait until you've at least finished your starter and your ready for your main before you bring it out.nnApart from that it was a nice meal and atmosphere, the staff were friendly, table was clean and so we're the toilets

There is no other way of describing the food other than excellent! The Korean beef rib is fantastic.nStaff are attentive and courteous.nYou can tell that the beer is 'kept well'.nThe Dog menu is a brilliant idea and a massive thumbs up

We had a party of 10, the choice of food was normal. We ordered at the bar, you can do on line also. The food came, maybe 10, 15 minutes after ordering, and it was quite busy, I had the fish, it was perfect, I mean crispy without being tooncrispy, and the fish was so moist. All the meals were great, from sirloin steak to burgers. And something you rarely see now, they still came and asked halfway through, if everything was OK, which it was. Brilliant.

Decent enough place.  Unfortunately too many football supporters for our liking and made for a lot of noise.  The supporters did go into another area at kick off but the tv and really loud speaker did stay on above our table making it shouted conversations for us.  The food was good  and served quickly.
