The worst overall experience. I think it will be easier to itemise my grievances! 1 the pub opened 15 mins late despite the chap who opened the door telling me that he saw me sat directly outside the door for half an hour I arrived early. 2 The ground floor smelt like a greasy commercial extraction which was off putting. 3 nobody told me how to get in and out when the pub wasn’t open which took me a while to figure out as it’s a bit of a rabbit warren in there. 4 There was no kettle in the room despite having teacups. 5 pillowcases were missing from two pillows which revealed how old and soiled they were. 6 no mattress topper 7 blinds broken 8 additional pillows on the bed had awful stains on them as they clearly have never been washed 9 an empty drug bag was found on the floor 10 paint peeling off the walls and an almost comedic iron burn on the carpet! 11 Sounded like the staff were having a party in the room next to mine late at night and were smoking cannabis and played music at a ridiculously high level. 12 the view out of the window tells you everything you need to know about the level of pride the proprietor must have as there is abandoned furniture and rubbish left to rot outside and a full skip to complete the job! 13 the communal kitchen clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while as there was dirty water in the sink, plates and cups u washed and a full smelly bin bag on display. 14 one last gripe I had to pick up a cupboard from one side of the bed and place it by the other- so that I could put the lamp on it as it was previously on the floor Lord only knows what the food is like in this place! I wouldn’t even dare drink a pint in there. Usually I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but it appears to me as if this place isn’t being managed properly and instead is being used as a doss house for the barman and his friends. I’ve backpacked for years and stayed in many types of accommodation. I’ve worked in several hotels and four hostels, so I’d like to think I know what I should expect as a minimum. Unfortunately this place is in need of a total overhaul as the potential is there but it’s totally being abused and left to crumble. You can forgive one or two things but not a catalogue of errors and even though it was £45 for the night I feel completely ripped off. It was just disgusting. Had I realised these things when I first entered I would have asked for a refund and gone elsewhere!
Rooms basic but comfortable. Bathroom facilities very poor. Lights not working. Dated and dirty. Staff friendly. For cheap price I'd say its OKRooms: 5/5
When we arrived at the hotel, a wonderful lady welcomed us, she was very friendly and helpful, everything was great until she left. There was a young girl who kept saying "you're alright" with her disturbing looks. It made me happy with an incredible Halloween decoration. She deserves 5 points just for that blonde lady's sakeRooms: 5/5
Good night stay at a strategic location. It is not far from Wallasey Village station, Co-op and many other shops around. It is above a pub so can be a bit loud until 1 am. If you are going out at night it should be good. There's coffee and tea in the room so it is a nice touch. The communal bathroom is clean and well looked after so no complaints. The sheets and towels are clean too. However the mattress does need changing as I felt like sleeping on arrays of spring. Otherwise it was a good sleep in a clean room that gets bright early. Rooms: Clean and well looked after. Mattress is a bit old and may not be comfy for people who are used to luxury beds. Pillows are comfy enough. Nearby activities: They have pool table and some arcade games. Walkability: 7 min walk to Wallasey Village train station. Food & drinks: It is a pub so they have food and drinks.
When i arrived, there are signs in the carpark stating you have to pay for the parking. I went into the pub and if you are having a meal, drink or staying then there is a tablet on the bar to input your car registration so you don't have to pay the car park charge Visited last weekend for a meal with friends All the staff are very friendly, engaging and good craic. The food was good, plenty on the plate and served hot, prices for meals and a pudding are very reasonable. The biscoff cheesecake was Three choices of plate sizes, small, medium and large, ideal for people with any appetite.
Didn't eat on this occasion but stayed for drinks. Great atmosphere an reasonably priced drinks.Rooms: 4/5
Positives: Service was adequate - man showed me too my room and was polite and friendly. The bathroom I used was clean. It is shared but I knew that at time of booking Negatives: The room was not clean - floor dirty with hairs on floor. I don't think it had been vacuumed in a while. Sheets had been washed but had some stains. Bed not comfortable. The doors are very thin and you can hear what is going on in other rooms - conversations and other night time activities.... The curtains do not block out the light so in the morning the room was bright Overall I would not stay here again and would pay more to avoid doing so.
It was lovely and clean they very welcoming showed us around as never been in pub before lovely people also nice and quite lovely drinks and environment.Rooms: 5/5
· Very unclean. Sugar wrappers left on floor, one cup in a double room, bin not emptied, had to ask for toilet roll, never supplied in both shared bathrooms. What looked like coffee stains on the bedding which was surprising as there was only sugar supplied in the roomNo lighting in corridore, even worse was no lighting on stairs causing my disabled wife to fall on the little step in the hallway half way up the stairs. Shared shower looked like it hasn't been cleaned for weeks. So much so we didn't bother using it, instead opting for a good wash until we got home. Don't book for a Sunday if you want to sleep before midnight. Whilst we love a good Drum and Bass night theres a time and a place, especially without warning. We were probably in the room furthest from the bar but we still felt like we were at a music festival with our window directly over the beer garden. Once the music did stop every time i opened the door to use the toilet i probably woke the whole corridor with the noise our door made. Didn't see one cleaner in 2 days. The smell of cannabis whenever using the back entrance could only have been from the back door of the kitchen. The lady who booked us in was very pleasant but what little remaining staff there was didn't look like they wanted to be there, not surprising really, we certainly didn't. Noteworthy details: Suitable for a stag party, nothing more
Went to my niece's 18th birthday party here. Lovely attentive staff. Great atmosphere. Generous parking facilities. Toilets were clean, as was the establishment as a whole. The staff were very helpful with the setting up of the food and balloons.Service: 5/5
